  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Which other breeds?

So most of us have our first choice breed, I know we do but there are other breeds that have caught our eye so we at some point I suspect will have one in the house as a pet or show dog (not to breed, one breed is enough to try and learn everything about). These are the others that I love looking at and dream about having some day

SA Boerboel
Harlequin GD (simply stunning and not many in my area)
Dogo (Scott and I both like one but the deafness in the breed worries me)
Bordeaux (cousin just got one and although he came of Kijiji they love him and he is a sweet boy)
Tosa
CAS or CO or Sarplaninac (thanks Ang and Brad... those wonderful pics of your guys now have me wanting a "hairy" breed, although I will only get one of these if I have something for them to be watching over)
Akita (the dark ones I think are beautiful)
Alapaha (that is Scott's pick as they don't appeal to me)
St. Schnauzer (just because I want to hand strip a dog)
Brussells Griffon (same reason as the schnauzer but on a smaller scale, probably a more likely choice)
Crested (I just want one to name stripe like the gremlins movie)
Bulldog (I almost had one when I worked at the clinic, dog's name was buckwheat and the owner didn't want him but then changed his mind and took him home. Every time he came in the kibbles and bits song started in my head)

Don't know if I will ever have all of them but I would like to.

I hope to own a SA Boerboel (very soon) :)
I would also like to own a sight hound one day. Maybe an afghan or borzoi or wolfhound.

I have a dog dream list too. At some point I'd like a golden retriever, a great dane, a saint bernard, a bernese mountain dog, a ddb, and I could go on and on. My daughter wants a poodle someday but she's 5 and I'm pretty sure that's just because she thinks they are pretty. Once my husband retires, the end game is a house or farm with a lot of land. Once we own I'd like to have a pit as well. I wish we could have one now but it wouldn't be realistic since they are banned on military bases.

I am in love with Irish Wolfhounds. Our neighbors have two of them and I just love watching them walk by.
Also Dane, French Mastiff, purebred Catahoula Leopard Dog, EM, and Saluki.

Maybe a newfie. But my friend has two bernese mountain dogs and a leonberger, and I just can't take all the hair. So that's why I've always stopped myself from getting one.

Growing up I've been owned or had in my life several different breeds. Afghan, Australian shepard, Sheltie, GSD, Great Dane, Yorkie, Min. Schnauzer, Chesapeake, Pitbull(s), and an Airedale. Plus the EM and BM of course.

The breeds I'd be interested in owning would have to be French Bulldog, Presa, Dogo, Coon/bloodhound.

French Mastiff or OEM. I would stick with Fila but I think I'm getting to old for the challenges of owning one.

If I was a hunter I would have a Chessie or Wirehair Pointer but right now I tell Scott if he wants to hunt pick a dog and start teaching. Think it would be fun to see one of our breed hunting :) Might have to look into that lol!

I've been owned by beagles, GSDs, a hybrid(back then it was just a shepherd/timber wolf mix), cocker spaniel, lab/golden mix. The lab/golden was my heart dog; I didn't have ANY pets for over 10 years after I lost him. I'm fascinated with Leonbergers & mastiffs; bulldogs. I love all the hound breeds too. I worked with a couple of standard poodles last week that sparked my interest. I worked with over 40 golden retrievers; I absolutely love them. Funny story; I have a friend who is a trainer & whenever she talks about a dog getting a stupid look on their face she says they "go golden". But they're smart, funny, athletic. I'd like to own another GSD but that hip/topline thing nowadays really turns me off. I'd have to get an adult rescue that has been tested & shows strong hips, or get one from a police line. Of course the bullmastiffs are a given. In fact we're entertaining the thought of getting another one in a year or so, when Ruby *might* mature a little. Possibly a rescue this time.

German Mastiffs and Neos

I already own and will soon own another GM, I would love a Neo eventually. My dad thought they were UGLY but those were the overdone dogs. Once I own a home ( which won't be for a few years) I would like to add one to my family. Until then it gives me more time to research lines of the Neo.

Black Russian Terriers, Boerboels, Dobermans, nearly all of the breeds in the working group, the mastiffs, bully breeds, and some littles too. As far as actually owning, IDK. Right now, I'm too smitten with my bullmastiff to consider a different large breed, but I could go little. Frenchies, Corgis (if I can make peace with the shedding), and Dachshunds would be at the top of my list.

I want a Neo, and a Black Russian Terrier, although I would definitely need the time to manage the BRT's coat. For a little dog or at least short, a Frenchie or a Bulldog.

I would love another St brenard. I'd like a neo, OEM, And I find most hounds to be to funny so I like them. I've also taken a liking to the cane corso's on here

There are quite a few breeds I really like, but the human lifespan just isn't long enough to fulfill my wishes. That being
said, I would like to devote the next 8 - 12 years of my life to a Fila. I also like the Bullterrier, The
French Bulldog, and The Bassett Hound.

I knew a girl once who had two Bassetts: Wallace and Grommet. Grommet was her first and very atypical of the breed: longish legs and hyperactive as anything. Wallace was the usual droopy-eyed bandy-legged couch potato. Great dogs, both of them. Not really my thing, but they're sweet :)
I guess I haven't got much of a breed preference ... we never intended to get a mastiff to start with but you know how it is with shelter dogs: they choose you.
