So now your looking into the laws so you can just shoot first and call animal control second, wow! Your a real animal lover arent you! How bout stop harassing strange dogs and go after the stupid low life scumb bag owners because truly the dog is just being an animal and i really do not believe it was a fila as you would not have been able to get away from its attack and a punch in the nose would not have stopped it, you would have been taken downtown by a true fila, sorry to say it like that but that is what the breed is bred for, protection, being a guard of its home. The price of these dogs for a true bred fila start at 1200 and go up, so if it was a young low life scumbag chances are it was a mutt that maybe resembled a fila or a poorly bred one.
