We can only speculate what would make ammends for that grieving pet owner. If I were them, well... I don't much care to say what would make me happy.

Id think it'd be more likely that you'd have to provide financial restitution than anything else.

Agree. If it were my dog you shot, I can tell you right now replacing the dog with another would not sit well with me. Especially with the bond that I have with my dogs. That's something you can't simply replace.

well when you talk about how it had to be put down and all and the way you have such an attitude I figured maybe you had a reason to shoot the dog. I doubt you will be told to give him a dog. They will set a figure on the life and thats that. Then maybe you get a civil case on you as well

In texas law i read that the dog has no sentimental value and it only considered property so it would only be the value of the purchase price of a new dog

I was checking out the big dog remember. No one was in the street. Unarmed at the time..

I got quite a bit more than I bargained for. Regardless you understand real well. I'm sorry that I didn't convey the severity of my mistake.

Its done. That part is in the past.

Now, things need to be made right. You've said that another Fila is not a good idea. Is that still true for you?

And let me add i hope they throw the book at you, as this is not Irac and you cant go around killing things because you feel like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are other avenues you MUST follow. Tell us the whole story on what led up to this encounter, your story has lots of holes in it. Did ya kill the little ankle biter aswell?

You yourself said a few posts ago that there was a punk ass in the street and you also said you were checking out the strange people in your neighboorhood. You saound like george zimmerman lol! Yes im still in agreement as to no fila but he will get money out of you to buy another one if he so chooses which i hope he doesnt, i love my breed and they are ment for serious people not low life punk ass KIDS. To me thats like giving a toddler a loaded gun, stupid!!

Yall are the benefactors of my stream of consciousness. Chuck I didn't say I was defending my life. I am very much guilty of going back inside retrieving a weapon and killing a dog. I've been offered a plea I do intend to agree to. I don't know exactly what the restitution part of my punishment will consist of but the Prosecutor could insist on another Fila. If that is what the victim (not me) wants then the victim and I both have a dilemma. WalMart is fresh out of Filas. Not to mention my membership status is in peril of being revoked by bugboy. So if you were a jury how would I best repay this dog owner. What could I possibly do to make things better?

The punk was visiting a neighbor. He made some threat about returning the favor but I had just basically commited my gravest blunder ever and wasnt listening to death threats from bystanders.

The Pit? That was like 20 years ago. Have you ever seen a grown person hemmed up by you dog?

What if you hadn't been there?

To honestly answer you question. I need a couple of answers from you.

How was the dog restrained or was the dog loose in the street, in it's own yard?

How old was the dog?

How far was your house from where you approached the dog?

And I'm still very defensive about the whole thing.

No, that person doesn't need a dog of any breed if he can't keep them in his own yard. I would point that out to the DA, but I'm sure you have. Any breed of dog is dangerous, especially if they are allowed to roam the streets.

My last comment/question is: Why didn't you go and confront the owner of the dog? That is who was in the wrong not the dog. If you would have whipped his ass, I think the whole forum would be on your side. Instead you kill a defenseless dog. Yes, it was defenseless once you brought the gun out.
