  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Just saying

Anytime we cook a dinner with meat the dogs are totally confused. They're probably thinking "wtf, where are our bowls"? But they are so stinkin cute I just have to sneak them some. I need to just figure another person when planning because someone gets shorted when it's time to eat. Lol

That is for our 12 lb mutt:) that is why we feed in cages. She scarfs hers down and stands over the others lol

:D Sounds like our house - they all get fed in different areas because the 4 lb. toothless Chi thinks all food is hers...even though what Angus eats a day weights more than she does!!!

So hubs steps on something squishy and asks what it is as he holds his foot up for me to see. Turns out Chica must have dropped a frozen satin ball and I did not notice. He just shook his head and threw out his socks, they had holes in them anyways lol

I just worked all the meat vendors at our farmers market. Hopefully I will be scoring another payload soon I love the hunt! Hahaha

Came home from the market and hubs says for me to list our deep freeze(the smaller one) for sale. I asked what we would use for our meat(we get a pig each year). He replies " you know you threw away any savings of feeding raw with the purchase of that new deep freeze" ummm...yeah, no good argument here

Not sure how anyone else spends their Friday nights but deboning chicken quarters and hand grinding around 25lbs of meat while watching Ice Age is quite awesome! LOL

I thought raw feeding was typically done in whole parts. In what scenario do you grind it up? Sounds like a good Friday night to me. :)

My rescue mastiff will only eat ground frozen raw meatballs. The other two will eat anything in any form but I have found just mixing up a batch of 8lb meat/1lb bone/.5lb liver/.5lb offal is the perfect base and then add extras where needed.
I'm still unsure of how Chica feels coming from living outside under a trailer to ground up raw meals made specifically to her tastes I'm thinking she likes it though. Lol

Chica is one very lucky girl!!!:)

So how is the hand grinder dealing with the bones? Chicken only or others also?

We are very lucky to have her!!!
I do not grind any bone. I use saw scraps in the frozen raw meatballs. That is enough for Chica and Ava(small rat terrier mix) and add chicken backs at one meal for the puppy because he needs more bone for firm stools. I LOVE this routine!! Poos all around are perfect**

Another Saturday night spent making frozen raw meatballs. I really do need to get out more.
On the upside, went to the market with my oldest(20yrs old) and came across pork butt for $.79lb. I loaded up the cart, much to the dismay of other shoppers, and made out with my loot! Andrew just shook his head and chuckled. Good thing he is use to my craziness having grown up with me I did kinda feel bad but hey, my dogs need to eat!

Score! Little market near me has pork riblets for .99/lb and chicken quarters for .19/lb right now so I stocked up. Add to that beef organ mix and ground whole goat from my raw supplier and they're eating well for a while.

Visited a new Mexican restaurant for lunch with a friend and we got a big plate of fish tacos. Epic fail, not good at all. So I brought the rest home and guess what the dogs got for a late-afternoon snack... :p

First world raw feeding problems: my butcher was having an AWESOME sale on half of a cow. Like, could not pass up sale. We purchased 1/4 at about 150# of meat. No matter how I rearrange the dog food I just cannot make enough room for ours. Hubs did a happy dance when I had to say those rarely heard words, "you may have been right". It will take a while to get that taste out of my mouth Hahahaha

Ps-he's actually considering another stand up freezer! Though only because my sis is selling hers for dirt cheap
