  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

This is why I hate people

Animal Control took both dogs to the emergency vet, for legal & insurance purposes. Ally has a little cut on her lip from the poodle; her nose & chin are swollen from the monster, as well as some bruised ribs. She definitely had a bloody nose when he was done with her. But nothing appears to be broken.
Since Ally is a rescue, I wonder if she's been beaten before. She just went into pancake mode; didn't move a muscle for the duration of the attack, & about 20 minutes after. We were worried about her blood sugar, since she's diabetic. It was a little high, but not dangerous. When we came home we dumped the ice from the cooler in the water bucket, and she spent about 1/2 hour fishing every single piece out. The kitchen was a disaster. :)
The vet said to watch for blood in her urine, and to expect her to be sore tomorrow. BTW the vet was a young man from Brazil, who has "a few" filas back on his farm. Nice guy.

I couldn't believe what I was reading as I read it! What a total sadistic scumbag (to put it nicely I don't think what I really mean to say is forum appropriate). My god :( I hope this guy gets arrested /found clearly he is mentally disturbed. I hope your poor dog is ok

The guy should be thrown into a cage with alligators. I'm so glad Ally is recouping. Poor baby. Please keep us posted as to how she is doing.

I'm so sorry that that happened. Was it the male owner of the poodle and the woman refused to admit it? I could see someone doing that if he felt his dog was injured. How is the poodle? Hopefully there was no damage to the poodle so you don't have to worry about that at least. I hope Ally will recover quickly both physically and emotionally. It must have been so traumatic for her.

Good to hear. Northern you make a good point I was thinking the same, about the guy being with the poodle. Hopefully she recovers well.

The man wasn't with the woman with the poodle. He was with a different woman. He was in his early to mid 30's; the woman w/the poodle was much older, & her husband was with her. This jerk walked/ran quickly away with the other woman. The poodle is ok; he was bruised on his neck. But the bruising occured mainly because the woman's husband tried to pull him out of Ally's mouth & she wasn't letting go. Cheryl put Ally's head down on the ground right away, so Ally couldn't shake the poor little thing, then started prying Ally's jaws apart. This guy ran up & started pulling on his dog. Cheryl yelled at him to stop, while the poor thing was screaming. Ally's bite is so soft, she doesn't have a whole of of teeth left in her mouth, & they're all very dull, that she couldn't do much damage just biting the poodle.
Animal Planet hosts this event every year, & it's at a huge park owned by a non profit called Bishop Animal Shelter. Both Bishop & Animal Planet, along with the county Animal Services, are working towards outlawing flex leashes at the event. They coordinator told us this whole incident would be featured at their next meeting, as an example why flex leashes should be banned. So maybe something good could come of the whole thing.
Ally appears to be moving a little slower than usual today, & she's not in a good mood. She got into a grumbling match with Bella today; she tried to posture over Bella & Bella said "I don't THINK so!" So I think that since she's in pain, she's being pretty defensive with the girls. She's totally ignoring Sunny. She's also sleeping a lot. She has a cut over one eye which is swollen, & her little chin is swollen too. But I'm sure she'll be ok in time. We just have to remember that dogs live in the moment. As soon as she's not hurting I'm sure she'll be back to herself.

A friend of mine walks his Lab on a flex-leash and doesn't seem to understand why I hate them so much. Take both dogs out on a walk though and Oscar's loose-leashed at my side with a standard 6-footer and the Lab is pulling himself to choking at the far end of the flexi-leash, approaching any and all other dogs, humans etc. I adore that Lab, he's very gentle and was rescued from an abusive home but holy hell it makes me angry to see his horrible leash manners and that he's just allowed to run around wherever. The only reason he doesn't approach Oscar is because Oscar put him down one day and he's not forgotten it.
HATE flexi-leashes. Really hope they're able to ban them at that event ... in my experience they do WAY more harm than good.

I admit to using a flex lead with Jiggers in the past. I actually found I had better control in a crowd with it than with a regular lead because I could pull him in next to me. I agree that I dislike when people let their dogs pull at the end of any leash but with a long leash it is even worse.
I hopes she feels better soon and that karma strikes that man with everything he deserves.

I haven't even been able to comment until now. I'm pissed and sick that Ally has had to go through this. Sad commentary on society as a whole. I have to stop there. If I express what I wish for that bastard I'm sure I would be kicked off the boards. Lets just say a couple of episodes of Criminal Minds come to mind.

Please give Ally some kisses and hugs from us, remember to whisper to her that not all people are bad. Maybe Santa will have some extra goodies for her.

I'm truly sorry ya'll have had to go through this. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help!

That is an unfortunate circumstance to say the least but I hope that you don't hate all people. There are some nice ones here and there amongst the 6 billion of us or so...

As to alluding to threatening messages such as referring to TV shows does not help anyone and is just internet bluster. It is easy to sit back and talk smack when you are behind your computer and quite another when you come face to face with trying situations.

I'm sorry for you, that you don't have the same disgust for this individual that most of us have. I never threaten anyone. Those that harm defenseless children and animals deserve what ever karma is out there. Bluster behind a computer, no. That is how I feel!

I agree AB! There are some things I am willing to let slide and just don't comment but abuse of those that rely on us to protect them, dogs or kids and I suspect that you would find many on this board that would make it more than internet bluster!

It is people like that "human being" and I use that term losely, that makes take matters into their own hands and breeds hate instead of love and compassion. It isn't an unfortunate circumstance it was a malicious act by someone that should get his a$$ handed to him and I get so tired of people making excuses for discusting acts of cruelty or violence!

It's sad that people can be so brutal to animals for no reason. It's good to hear Ally isn't hurt too bad. Hopefully she makes a quick recovery.

Charger- don't think AB was threatening anyone she was just stating what she thought he deserved for being so cruel. She didn't say she would kill him or anything.

Pretty much. I sincerly hope Karma catches up with him. Now had I been there to SEE it? Yah, "threaten" would have been the wrong word....
