Thanks guys, Mazey is such a wonderful, wonderful dog. After getting through her fear issues, she has an amazingly stable temperament, and I can do anything with her. We have used her at school as a demo dog for us to practice doing ECGs and ortho exams on. I've had to add in an extra suture to a wound (from a mass removal) on her, and then had to staple up the entire wound after she pulled all of the sutures out on a weekend when my vet clinic was closed. She didn't even bat an eye. She lets me get in her mouth with dental equipment and clean up the tartar between dentals. Over the summer, she started vomiting blood (of course on a weekend when the vet clinic I worked for was closed). I took her up to the clinic by myself and was able to position her on the table and take radiographs and draw blood for bloodwork with no problem. Then every day or every other day after that for a couple weeks, I did blood draws on her to keep track of her anemia and to make sure there was no active bleeding still. I never had to ask anyone to help me restrain her. She is just so eager and willing to do anything I ask. I take her absolutely everywhere with me, and I can always expect her to be perfectly behaved. She's even been used to test other dogs' reactions with a dog because I can always count on her to be non-reactive. Sorry, I know I go on and on about her, but she is just such a special dog. I can't believe she is going on ten years old soon
Hopefully she'll live forever!
