Haha, love it! What a great face. lol. Yeah, I hear you on the comments people make... many simply have no clue about dog's breed. I've had a few people ask me if Luther is a boxer, or pit bull, (must be because he's brindle, smh), those are the ones who never heard of the Cane Corso. But there are many in my neighborhood that do know right away that he's a CC, which I find interesting.

My family adopted our first CC rescue 12ish years ago, and I don't think during his entire lifetime a single person guessed the breed correctly. He was oversized and gray brindle, so we did get a lot of neo comments though. I have found that every year, more and more people are recognizing them while out and about (especially since their AKC recognition). May not be a good thing though....

What happens when no one will stay out of my dirt pile while cleaning....

Then the cat got in on the action.

I concur. Cane Corso's increasing popularity might not be a good thing, especially when last time I checked the breed went up 10 places to #50 in most popular, I think in just one year. And AKC also reports that bigger breeds are here to stay, as large dogs dominate most popular list. IMO, the CC is not a dog for just anyone, but because of their striking appearance people are wanting to own them, not always for the right reasons. In my area alone, I've seen multiple ads on craigslist (!!!) for CC needing to be rehomed due to the fact that their owners can not control them out in public and have no time for them, wtf?!? I almost called up one of them, since they are only a few streets away from where I live, but decided not to, since realistically I am not in a position to take on another one of them at this time (as much as I would love to, I still am working with Luther in his rehabilitation process). Once he is more stable, and I know I can trust him, I will get another one of them for sure and it will also be a rescue. These days I am a staunch advocate of responsible ownership and proper training, and I applaud people who rescue, and those who adopt rescues. Your family did a great thing by adopting your first CC. But, honestly it is not easy to clean up the mess of others, it's a LOT of hard work and takes time and patience, specially when you get a difficult case. I know this from first hand experience.

BTW, I LOVE the new pics, that cat of yours is something else, haha, three big dogs and she's totally cool and looks like she thinks she's one of them in that cage. Amazing!

We were so lucky with our first CC, it was such a privilege to have him in our lives for four years before losing him to bladder cancer. He was part of a neglect case involving three corsos chained up and starving. The neighbor documented everything and tried to keep them fed for nearly a year before animal control finally stepped in and confiscated them. Our boy was 70 pounds (eventually 130 pounds at his ideal weight) and HW pos. Despite living the way he did for years, he was such a wonderful dog and relatively issue free. Because of him, we all fell in love with the breed. Here's a few photos our wonderful old boy (because I don't do anything without photos, lol).

And Rhaegar's current extended CC family:

And you're doing such a wonderful thing with Luther. I know what a long and difficult process it can be, but it sounds like you are completely dedicated to your boy! He was lucky to have ended up in your hands.

Today is the day: my little boy officially weighs the same as my nine year old pittie. They grow up too fast!

Here is the two of them almost two months ago:

can't believe they all fit in that crate!

When you said this, it made me think of a certain photo from a few years ago, but I couldn't find it until now.

This was in a crate I had for a 25ish pound foster puppy....Atlas decided he could fit first, and Mazey does whatever he does. Please don't judge her sweater, we keep our house really chilly, and she gets cold so easily, lol.

My gosh! lol well maybe she's cold - free heat!! Your dogs are so tolerant of each other.

It all started with Mazey. She's a foster failure from years ago who was dumped in a ditch next to the interstate with her two surviving puppies (they were adopted out into a home together). She was clearly abused, and I doubt she had ever stepped foot out of her yard until she was dumped. She was so terrified in the presence of humans that she just completely shut down. Any time you approached her, she would just melt into an unresponsive puddle on the ground. It looked like she was just hoping to disappear. We had to carry her everywhere in and out of the house because she was too scared to move. She had obviously never been indoors and had the same reaction to being inside. We were told she was unadoptable. She was just terrified of literally EVERYTHING, no matter how small or innocuous seeming. Sometimes I think the only reason we ever got through to her was the other dogs. She had been bred a LOT, and I think the only good relationships she had ever had was with other dogs. She was always braver with a big group of dogs, and you could tell she was just comfortable with them. She has come an incredibly long way in the past seven or so years, but she is still extremely wary if you have any sort of object in your hands or if your feet get too close to her. She occasionally has fearful moments where she reverts to her old ways, but is quick to recover, especially if she has a dog friend with her. I'm not going to lie, she's the reason we adopted our second dog Atlas when I moved away for school. She just isn't happy as a single dog. She just craves companionship, whether it's from dogs, cats, or people. I haven't met a dog yet that she wasn't quick to warm up to. She especially loves cuddling (clearly, from the pictures, lol). People always tell me how lucky she is (considering she was a quite plain looking pit bull with pups with serious fear issues at a high kill animal control in Atlanta), but she is my heart dog. I couldn't ask for a sweeter, more loving, eager to please, and well behaved dog. The dynamic between all of my animals is really special, they are just all so in love with each other. I was a little worried about what the effect of adding little Rhaegar might do to their dynamics, but thankfully, he's fitting right in! I'm pretty sure Mazey can talk any animal into cuddling with her.....

What an inspiring story, about Mazey; thanks for sharing that.

That last pic with the cat...well. She has such a presence, without a doubt! And that paw looks like a tiny hand- awesome. :)

Thank you for sharing Mazey's story, very inspirational. I command you for rescuing her, working with her and surrounding her with other lowing creatures. You have my utmost respect and virtual veneration. I love this thread, the pics and the stories you've shared. :)
