Rank Mastiff breeds by temperament

So if you had to rank them from softest to hardest I'm thinking at one end you'd have the English Mastiff and at the other end of the spectrum the Fila, how would you rank them? My staring and ending points may be incorrect, that is just what I'm thinking based on what I've read here.

Thanks!

Except for the Fila, I'm not sure about any of these, as I didn't have the pleasure to meet a lot of mastiffs.. Lets do some more rankings? Size, vicious looks, activity level, drooling, whatever comes to mind. These are probably going to be really innaccurate tho.

Poor Fila. ahahahahaha. Now lets rank them in reverse so Kona be at the top of the list
I'm sure Kona is at the top of quite a few lists. ;) I do notice you didn't say we were wrong! I was a little surprised that the Neo was so high on both lists. Of course none of us claim to be experts so it will be interesting to see a few others chime in.

I don't have enough experience with all to rank all but of the ones I have owned I would say:
EM-Rott-Saint-GD-TM

Your average TM would fall mid-to bottom on that list, with the potential to be right down there with the Filas for some dogs.

It would really just depend on what you mean hard. If you mean people aggression then yes the fila would be there. If your talking ease of training, I'd say the fila would be one of the easier ones. If you mean easy to deal with other animals they may be some where in the mid to lower mid area. If you mean easy to own, well the filas desire to please would probably make them very easy to own. This of coarse is assuming all things are equal with the owners and the environment is secure

And all that would make a difference too. TM's are harder to train and keep because their desire to protect overrides their desire to please, but a well socialized TM, even a hard tempered one, is generally good with animals that aren't viewed as intruders......

Well a fila aint easy to keep if your factoring in possible prep to keep the dog in. But if the property is secure it's easy. Dont let people in your house. Their protective drive over rides everything in most filas. But that comes down to the owner. Keep the dog out of situations where that will be a issue. But that just an inherent part of owning the dog. A fila with someone that should not have one would be a nightmare. But thats why I said all things equal. The proper dog with a proper owner. Same with your TM. For the wrong person it would not be good. But barring ignorant owners and dogs in the proper environment for the breed is more or less what I mean.

Now if we are talking bout the avg joe walking in to buy a random dog well the fila is off the table all together for 99% of the joes in this world

At least in my experience, once a Fila is in protect, alert, watch mode, they don't care too much about pleasing, and are very hard to call off. Luckily, at least with mine, once the perceived threat is over, they calm down very quickly.

Yea thats Kona. Light switch attitude. As long as theres something out there, she wont calm down for nothing in the world. Once it's gone she's happy happy

See, except for in the homeplace a TM is always on some level of alert, and even in the homeplace it doesn't take much. Which isn't to say that they're growling/in stance/etc all the time, but they're on alert for anything. Apollo clearly thinks that having me happy with him is cool, but having me happy with him comes in a far distant 2nd to making sure that he's checked out all possible threats. And he's soft tempered for a TM!

And Chuck, I understood. Assuming an owner capable of handling and training and containing the breed.....
