I do contract work for a dog boarding/training facility, filling in for the owner when she has to go out of state for consulting work for a guide dog organization. It's every 6 weeks or so, I move in & take over all of her dogs (5) & her clients dogs, from 1 to 20, plus a colony of feral cats (12). Usually the gig is for 2 - 4 weeks. I also am a slave at a local convenience store. Hate every minute of it. But we're out in the boonies, & it's close so I don't spend a lot on gas. It's usually only about 6 hours a day, so I don't have to leave the dogs alone for very long.
OK so as of this Sunday I am officially NOT a salve @ a local convenience store anymore. Starting Monday I will be the new canine puppy/whelping technician at a Guide dog organization. Took me TWO YEARS to get into this place. I've always said that a little bit of puppy goes a long way, I'd rather be working with adults; but it's a foot in the door. YAY! And we're 99% sure we're getting a new foster, just like Magee, who died about 3 months ago. Diabetic, blind, bullmastiff. The vet said she's 10 yrs old if she's a day. She was found wandering around on her own. Looks like she's been bred over & over. There's no other place in the world where this girl should be, but here with us. Today has been a good day. :)

Lab Manager at a small Geochemical lab. We analyze source rock (shale) for present and potential hyrdrocarbons, we also analyze oil samples as well. My boss, the majority owner, is a good friend of mine and most of the guys I work with I've known since I was in middle school.

It's unusual for people to keep in touch after high school, let alone middle school. Must be a really tight knit group of people. You're lucky to have friends like that.

Cool Ozman! I've been taking flying lessons out of Lynchburg regional and I always wonder what those guys think of a little ultralight doing touch and goes. Occasionally they have a US Air regional jet but mostly small aircraft. I would think they gotta get bored but apparentyly it is a pretty cush gig, low stress. That is one of those jobs I always thought would be cool. :)
Air traffic contoller. Not one of those that sleeps on the job!!!

Gunny, I'm at IAH (Bush Interconintental)

Well from all of us in the Houston area, thank you. You guys do a wonderful job considering the crazy circumstances you have to deal with. I'm sure you get more complaints than thanks, so here's one from someone who realizes how crazy your job is.

My job is pretty boring but I love it. I am a freelance journalist and ghostwriter and a published author. And in terms of the strange household, my husband is a toy sculptor who produces the prototype toys that are mass produced. He has the cooler job according to everyone but that is just because he has sculpted for Marvel, DC, Dr. Who, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.:)
