I agree, and I like that a lot. This is one of the reasons I am taking a step back to look at these different breeders now. Seems many of them are just pig farmers. They breed dogs they like stick the male back in his cage, welp the bitch and cage everyone back up and sell them off. Skip a cycle and do it again until the bitch is so worn down she loses bone density and muscle mass and looks like an old sway back mule that has been worked too hard. In all honesty I have seen Back Yard Breeders with a better code of ethics than some of these so called top breeders. The BYB had a family dog, breeds her with a friends male or his own male, welps the pups in the back bedroom sells off most if not all the pups then might do it again next year is they recover from the stress of the fist litter.
Yes, I really appreciate the fact that her dogs are clearly a part of her family. I know the term "breeding stock" gets tossed around. In Wilby's case though, I don't get the sense that her dogs are viewed as "stock" in any way, shape or form.
