To those who think PETA is ok......

Not sure how those here feel about them BUT.....

I won't even debate this one.....

According to official shelter reports filed with the Commonwealth of Virginia (where the PETA "shelter", if you want to call it that, is located), PETA took in 2345 animals, of which 44 were adopted out, 2,200 were killed (euphemistic word used in report is "euthanized"), and 63 were transferred out of the shelter. PETA's kill rate in 2010 was 93.81%.

PETA's whole campaign is to end all pet ownership/companionship.
Ingrid Newkirk is a liar and a dog murderer.
In the 1970's her profession was a dog catcher and killer
where in her own words; "I'd go to work early, before anyone got there, and I would just kill the animals myself...I must have killed a thousand of them, sometimes dozens every day."

even more great info on her, or my fave, the video where she says it all herself

this is one that gets under my skin, along with the Humane Society of the United States. Is just a money making corporation whose name tricks people into believing that they work with shelters. GGRRRRR

This is what happens when the charitable sector becomes based around making a profit. The nature of the charities change and cost becomes the first consideration, and in the case of animal charities euthanasia becomes the favoured choice. In the UK on average less than 15% of money raised is used for the purpose that charities have been set up for the rest goes into the pockets of operators. There are some noteable exceptions, but these are exceptions. In the case of animal charities the best thing is to donate to local charities you can check out for yourself.

The 15% figure is based on a recent study I have read.

Yeah, I've never really been in PETA's corner. I'm a bigger fan of ASPCA, since they seem more concerned with the overall well-being of animals, putting an end to dog-fighting and baiting, etc. whereas PETA, as has been said, mostly just wants to remove pets from humans completely. It's true a lot of people shouldn't be allowed to own goldfish much less dogs or anything else, but that's no reason to assume that all pet owners are incompetent and cruel or that all breeders are puppy-millers or that "sick" means "unadoptable".

Frankly, they make me sick.
