Practice lol, take the picture, look at it, and your settings, re-take the picture with different settings, look at it, adjust the settings, retake the picture....

Very true :) I don't make enough time for myself to go out and practice. I need to try and do that.

I managed to get a picture of exactly one meteor (saw more, but yah, my timing sucks). You'll have to click through to the big version to see the trail, its really faint.

And a couple cool sky pics

Ruth that's amazing!

I missed the shower because I actually had rain showers.....plus I woke up late but it didn't matter anyway.

I wasn't sure I was going to get any, it was quite cloudy most of the day, but it started breaking up mid afternoon, and there were some scattered clouds after dark, but it was clear enough to get some shots. I SAW a couple really spectacular meteors, but of course they were all while the camera was processing the last photo (which takes a few seconds....)

I can see tails on all of them in the 1st and 3rd picture when zoomed in one more once pic expanded!

ChangshaNotes - What lens(es) do you have?

Quite a few.

I have the kit lens 18-55mm but I don't use it often, I prefer the prime lenses.

These are the Sony lenses I have

SEL 16mm 2.8 - I also have an adapter that makes this 12mm. It's inexpensive for a wide angle lens.
SEL 35mm 1.8 - This lens is my most used and the one I use if I'm only carrying one lens.
SEL 50mm 1.8 - This lens is great for portraits and gives a very smooth bokeh.
SEL 55-210mm - A zoom with good reach.

One of the best features of the NEX is how easy it is to use old manual lenses on them. With a cheap adapter (no glass, just a spacer for different mounts) you can use almost any lens that has aperture control on the lens body. Of course with these there is no auto-focus but the camera will still adjust exposure based on the aperture you choose.

I have a bunch of manual lens I use a lot that my father owned in the 70's for his Nikon film camera.

This is a very friendly NEX only forum that has a lot of information about using the camera. It's where I learned the most about my NEX and photography in general.

OMG Damn such beauty.........:(

Ruth you are going to be so proud of me I took a picture of the moon oddly enough despite my finger being the way I could actually see some of the craters.
