The wolf lady says its a coyote, "but damn thats a big coyote". Head and ear shape are standard Eastern/North Eastern Coyote (which to be fair, have alot of wolf in them, DNA testing in the last 25 years or so says as much as 25% wolf). She and I both figure its got to have a fairly large percentage of dog in it too, in order to be that big. We're currently crossing fingers for a daylight shot so we can see colors lol.
We've not had a confirmed wolf sighting in upstate in forever, the few where the animal was able to be tracked down turned out to be big coyotes (or coy dogs). And I can't imagine that my local area is that great of an area for a wolf. They usually require a huge range, and although we've got deer and turkey and the like there's just enough civilization here I wouldn't think it'd be that attractive. Now you get over to the Adirondacks and I could believe a wolf could live there no problem....
