How to handle reputation

Forgive me if I sound like an a$$ but why are our responses funny? Some of our members here can attest to sheer stupidity of dog parks. Personally I still believe that dog parks are for people.

YES!!! It would be your fault if one of your dogs attack the smaller breeds. Why? Because even if the small breed dogs weren't in the proper run. The fact that you own "dangerous" breeds guarantees YOU are at fault. Look at Ruby's thread entitled "This is why I hate people." There are REAL a$$e$ out there that DESPISE our dogs because of what they are, thanks to the ignorant owners who do dumb $shit.

Sure, go break up a dog fight. Just don't get bitten......

Its not your dogs its the OTHER dogs that we worry about. Just because your are responsible doesn't mean other people at the park are.

Good luck!

My solution is I don't go to off leash parks with my dogs ;)
I do take them to empty fields to play and run, we have organized play dates with dogs we know, but I do not trust other people with their dogs.

I completely agree 100% If you are unsure then I say keep your dogs on a leash and avoid dog parks.

If you feel you know them well enough to know that the warning would be well recieved, sure, otherwise, up to you. Honestly I'd not untill I had a feel for them, there ARE folks out there who LIKE knowing their dogs are dangerous, and yes, they take them to dog parks....
no no i meant let the little dog owners no they are on the wrong side and that they are separated that way cause these dogs could accidently step on their dog and kill it...

OH NO! im sorry i was not referring to all post before.. a lot were very helpful! the one about the prosthetics was funny and i read about what happened to RUBYS dog! omg i would go into mama bear mode so fast!

Yeah.. i am afraid of other dog owners who go to the dog park and drink or talk on the phone?? seriously??! I think for the sake of my dogs the dog park will become a one dog at a time treat in a few months.. Chaos still needs a lot of socialization! He snapped at my mmother in law and growls whenever he comes over.. My other two dogs LOVEEE her.. and i think it really hurt her feelings

Again ditto about knowing the person....some folks would handle it well, and appreciate the thought...others, not so much, and some would be highly offended that you think their little darling can't handle himself with the big dogs....

Your dog will be blamed regardless especially your Pit and in society today it's a death threat. Remember my pit Daisy- she thought she was a princess, she was such a sweet girl- Slipped through an opening of the back fence to "play" with the little dog behind us. The Renter came out and punched her in the head, grabbed her by her throat and when Daisy did one "fear" bite he punched her again and she ran home. His friend came to our home and told us this- The guy had one bite on his hand and Daisy never touched his dog. He lawyered up the next morning- He is suing my homeowners insurance. My homeowners refused to cover Daisy any longer which made her a HUGE liability. The county labeled her a "Dangerous Dog" we couldn't afford the insurance or liability of owning her- we couldn't place her because who could take her- I don't know of any rescues that will take a Pit that is labled as a dangerous dog, I called all the ones around me and nobody would help me. It was AWFUL I would not put your dogs in that situation because I can tell you it's going to come back on you and you and your family will be the ones suffering- It is devastating to have to put a dog down due to circumstances beyond your control- Everyone can say hire and attorney and fight but check out the fees the attorney's charge to save your dog- it sucks! I would avoid dog parks like the plague or go to one that is empty!

Yeap, that's why I say they are for people. You see people texting/talking/ or having conversations paying little to no attention to their dogs.....until something happens.

Which one is Chaos? How old is he/she? My dog Thor does NOT like my mother at all, he loves my dad though. Stone LOVES both parents ( for now) he's still a puppy, but when he gets older I'm not sure what to expect.

The dog parks here are slightly different. They are areas in the river bottom that are designated off leash, no fences. I tend to take them down at times that I know there are going to be fewer people there and in all the times I gone I have thankfully only encountered only one person who didn't walk along with their dog(s). The main reason that I go is that Jiggers either needs to run for over an hour or swim in the river (cross-current) for 1/2 hour to even start to tire.

he has only snapped at her cause she gets very excited when she sees the dog yelling and trying to pet them.. the other dogs love that attention Chaos i think felt threatened... he is scared of all people and other dogs he either runs away cooing or if he is next to me he will stand his guard barking and growling at a person even snapping if its a strange dog.. he is very protective.. is that normal at such a young age??

You need to get him out ALONE and socialize him like mad!
An 8 week old CC pup should not be growling and snapping at people.
You need to get him in as many different situations and socialize the crap out of him before you have a real problem on your hands!

I would be careful where you take Chaos to if he hasn't had at least 2 sets of vaccines. Others may think it's ok & disagree with me, but in my own personal opinion, I won't take a puppy out into a social environment especially around other dogs until the pup has had at least 2 sets of vaccines.

Are all 3 of your dogs male? If so you should be prepared to seperate them when they get older. With 3 young male dogs ( especially one being an APBT) I would be thinking about what you would do when your own dogs get into fights with eachother because it's more than likely going to happen eventually.

I agree! But he just received his second set of shots three days ago :)

My pitbull Monty is female... she was attacked as a puppy.. another dog ripped her face open so she got the name Tony Montana as in Scarface.. which later shortened to Monty..
But the Mastiff and the Doberman are both males and the doberman is getting neutered in a few weeks.

Introduce him to friends and family and any healthy/vaccinated dogs you know. At your house, at their house. Untill he's had at least two shots avoid dog parks with him, and put him in a cart on a blanket at the petstores....

He has received two sets of shots... Is it still a risk taking him places? He goes to get his boosters in a month again... at least thats what my vet requested...
