Getting to Know You

Late getting into this. Nice reading about all of you.

First Name or preferred name: Sirena
Occupation: Author/Journalist/Insane Woman Extraordinaire
Age: 36
About your dog(s): Daisy 16 month old English Mastiff, Petey 9.5 year old Labrador Retriever (and the cat...always the cat...Charlie 5 year old orange suckball)
Interests: Reading, writing, dogs, horses, scrapbooking, advocacy work, learning, learning and learning.
Favorite music: Any and all. If it is played well, I will listen. I love Blue October!
Favorite book: Three books are my favorite 1. The Odyssey by Homer. 2. Plague Dogs by Richard Adams. 3. Cry the Beloved Country by Alan Paton...oh and I love Darkness Visible: A Memoir of Madness by William Styron...and I also find the books by Romeo Dallaire to be extremely well written and ones I recommend to everyone. And...okay, let's just say that I have a lot of favorite books but those first three are the ones I read every year.
Favorite quote: Read the books I mentioned, you will find a lot of them. My favorite limerick is "Sir, I admit your general rule that every poet is a fool. But you your self have proved to show it, that every fool is not a poet." Don't ask me why. Oh, and anything from William Blake. Favorite writer of all time. My husband tries to give me gifts with loving William Blake quotes on them and he always says, "You know, he wasn't a very cheerful fellow was he."
What's on TV?: Right now, nothing. I do like True Blood, Hung. Basically, HBO but I do like Raising Hope.
Random fact about yourself: I get a little thrill that I can beat all my kids' friends at video games. Several are completely embarrassed that a 36 year old mom can play PS3 so well.

I've been known to use my face to type comments and blame it on the dog. . dfgxzq3e4aasjk.nsijodfijldsnjdsf mn. . . ;)

I use my computer if there's a show or movie I want to watch. A TV seems unnecessary and redundant, especially with all the commercials, which are even worse than some of the terrible crap you have to sift through to find something halfway decent. My mom's to blame really, I haven't had daytime television since I was 7 and I thank her for it. =)

If there was a "like" button, I'd "like" this.

LOL. I am glad that my kids are a bit older but I did enjoy a few of the kids books such as The Crane Girl and Where the Wild Things Are. Last thing I read to my youngest was a Book about Whining. My oldest is 11 so now we read the same books and discuss. We just finished Lord of the Flies.
