We drove out of state for our EM and passed a bridge that was Biggs Road, so we named him Biggs, that and he's big. :)

Our Pyr is named Ursa because she looked like a tiny polar bear when we she was a puppy.

Newf girl #1 is Sadie - she came with her name (owner release) and she knew it so we kept it.

Newf girl #1 is Piper - just liked the name.

We named our EM puppy Bob - because a male EM just seems to need a "regular guy" kind of name.

My neapolitan mastiff's name is Alliseaa, I looked up Italian girl names and alisa means guarder (spelling) of man and neo's are born gurad dogs, but i wanted something
alittle different so just did some wrok with the spelling. She is having pups July 11 and I am keeping a boy, will name him prowler, I am getting an import form
Argentina in Sep. and her name will be Renesmee which means new begining, I love the Twilght series books, after her pups are born I can registar my kennel with the AKC and will call it
New Moon Mastini. The rest of the pups wil be named after someof the cast in Breaking Dawn. I know korney but I like it.

I have a really good book called "When Rover wont do!" it has lots of pages with tons of names and the meanings behind them. As for my current pack:
Autumn the Tosa is the color of fall leaves, Vail the Am staff I had taken in 4 of her litter as fosters and I named them all after ski resorts because they were born in December during a snow storm so she has a sister named Aspen, a Brother name Tahoe and a brother named Sundance. Sully the pit bull puppy is a blue brindle and he was a monster sized puppy compared to the rest of the litter and so he was named after the blue monster on the movie Monsters Inc. Our DDB that we had to euthanize a few years back was named Cajun because she was a beautiful red like the cajun spice. I also had a litter of DDB pups though rescue and they were lighter like a sand color so I named them after deserts we had Saharh, Mojave, Kalahari, Gobi, and Kavir

I picked Mufasa, named after the Father lion in the Lion King. The reason why I went with the lion name for a dog is that quote thats something like "What a Lion is to a cat, a Mastiff is to a dog" After hearing that the name Mufasa popped in automatically stuck.

I named my beautiful blue neapolitan Duska which means soul, spirit, I have loved the name for 4 years and knew if I got another dog that would be her name.

I've always been one to pick names for dogs that aren't typical "dog" names. I'm just not the type to call my dog fufu names. Especially, a mastiff. We named our English Mastiff Winston. We were trying to pick out a good "English" name!

We lived in England for almost 12 years and really liked Boris Johson -- a brilliant, witty man who was always laid back in demeanor and reminded us of a mastiff at the time. He is currently Mayor of London. We, too, were looking for an English name. So we named our pup Boris Bullingdon Bojo. Bullingdon was the Etonian club Boris Johnston belonged to, and Bojo was Boris Johnson's tbloid nickname

Mamie2shoes

My husband named her Mamie2shoes, after the cartoon character. The old Tom & Jerry cartoons had the lady that took care of them. You never saw her face, just her 2 shoes and for some reason he liked her name. I don't get it but whatever. And Mamie is just as sweet as can be, it fits her so well. But of course, living here in Alabama, everyone swears that it is a Gone with the Wind thing. (eyes rolling) We do have a pair of sister cats, Lucy & Ethel, but I think that is obvious. One is always in trouble and the other follows along. They are always together. They are perfectly named. We are setting up the aquarium this summer, but all of the fish will be named after U.S. presidents. This is to encourage learning. I am a dork, it's ok to say it, I own it. But we have decided our next EM will be Large Marge, just cause it seems so perfect. hahahaha

Our first EM was named Otis because his mom was Olivia and his dad was Oliver so he just had to have a name with the O. Our second EM was named Moses just because my husband loved the way he played and swam in the water the first weekend we got home. He loved the water and my husband said he is like Moses parting the red sea!! So, it stuck and the kids ended up calling him Mosey.

Now we are expecting a EM pup in August and having a hard time with names - if you guys have any suggestions for a beautiful EM boy pup - love to know.

Castle. We liked the way it sounded. It was suggestive as to his size. I have never met another dog named Castle.

Also, we have Nessy picked for our next giant breed, if she is a girl. So I've called dibbs on that !:)

Oscar was already named when we brought him home. At first, I thought it was a ridiculous name for such an enormous dog plus I kept associating it with Oscar the Grouch and it just didn't fit. Day One in our house though and we figured it fit just fine. It's masculine without beign pretentious and has the definite potential for silliness. Perfect for a big ol' blockhead with a droopy face.

Creasy is mines name, we got it from "Man on Fire" but he goes by Big Worm or Worm a lot and that's from "Friday"

Aurora came named, it was the breeders "A" litter, so his 6 year old daughter named the litter; Ariel, Aurora, Alishna, Apple and Achoo.
We kept it as it is fitting for the pretty pretty princess she is.
Joe Boxer my husband named... Kinda self explanatory. He thought he was pretty witty ;)

Some names are obvious (like naming your mastiff Godzilla :p) other's aren't. I'm curious to know why to decided to name your dog what you did and the story--if you have them--of your aha! Moment. Here is mine:

It was about a week after I had brought my 8 week old short haired saint bernard puppy home and I STILL hadnt decided on a name! I had a list but none seemed quite right. I had already began the socailization process as much as I was able (I still had a few shots left to give him before I could take him out) and I had set myself the daunting task of introducing him to 100 people (and their pets) before he was 3 months old!! And I was getting ready for a friend of mine and her 4 month old kittens Topsy and Turvy to come over. So far my pup had taken everything in stride but when these kittens arrived he was at a total loss. What WERE they? He was totally confused, and the longer he was around the kittens the more confused he got. Why didn't they bark? What was that wierd sound they made? Why were they so small? And he did this cute thing where he titled his head to the side and one of his ears raised up ever so slightly--as much as a floppy earned dog's ears can raise up--and barked a question. It was because of this that I named him Vex (his full name is Vexation, meaning confusion) animal crossing island names. And it is a look he still gives me quiet frequently (I nearly named him Spock though because of how much it reminded me of that quirk of the eyebrow Spock always gave), Especailly when I talk to him for a long time or I'm upset.
Hello.
getting a new pup in a week or so, a golden lab.
