Iara, Oak, Dorian and Chopper were my 4 favorites.

Iara is the one that won BOS

Video isn't up of the breed yet...they are slow posting them today.

Where on the site do you view the videos? I wasn't having luck locating that a moment ago. Wanna share your favs??? ;)

You can go on the Westminster site under judges and it will tell you what judges are judging which breeds. That is neat that your family has judged at Westminster more then once!

I do not know what they are judging this year, last time they judged they judged a toy breed group. Don't know abou this year, i'll have to find out though. I do know when they were still breeding, they weren't allowed to judge any dogs in there own division.

There are a pic of both the BOB and BOS under their win information. Labeled judging photo.

My Aunt Barbara and Uncle Alan will not be judging again this year. My aunt had knee surgery and apparantly not healed enough, she knew months ago she wasn't going to be judging, but I just found out. I got an e-mail from her and when I answered and asked how could she e-mail, she said she was home, recovering.

My foopaaa. :p Guess they missed this year.

Anyway, here is a story from 2006, if you go down to the bottom you can read Barbara and Alan Kloss. That's them, my aunt and uncle!

My aunt and Uncle saw our Boerboel when they were out here a few months ago, and she said she is the PERFECT picture of a Boerboel. She had never heard of one until I told her we had one, so she started doing some research on them. Said ours was perfect in every way! (to bad mentally she needs a bit of help, which we are TRULY trying to help her thru)

and here are some of her past judges. I knew she mostly did sporting groups after they quit breeding.

I just asked this question on another thread here but will post it here as well since it seems to have more action that the other

What is proper protocol for the Westminster show for when the judges check the dogs teeth out? I just watched the Corsos and the handlers were showing the judge the dogs teeth. Why? In handling classes the judges check the dogs teeth out not us.

In my handling classes we are taught both ways, so we are prepared either way. Some judges will ask a handler to show the teeth for whatever reason and some handlers prefer to show the teeth so that germs aren't going from one dog's mouth to another by way of the judges hand. I think it is judges preference and in this case it seemed like the judge preferred the handlers to show the teeth.

I was interested in that one of the females shown looked like she had recently weaned. Is this common place to show a female in this condition?

I don't think there are any rules that say you can't show a female that has recently weaned. But sometimes the females also don't tighten back up well and can look like they recently weaned puppies. I don't know which is the case here but I think you can show a female that still has pups on her.

Someone with more show experience in regards to females with litters might be able to provide a better answer though.

nice to see some good-looking non-boxerish CCs in the ring. congrats to the winners.

Yes it was, unfortunately there was still at least one VERY obvious hypertype Corso in the ring.
It wasn't a good show IMO. Was great to see them in the ring, but MANY were limping and should not have been showing that day. Was definitely not what many were hoping to see on the Corso's first debut at Westminister :(
At least Leo represented well and his head is absolutely awesome!

You may not feel comfortable answering this, but is the hypertype you are referring to the #1 corso in the line up? Also, might someone be able to post pictures (legally of course) of an example of this Boxer type corso people keep mentioning? Alot of the Corsi I've seen in backyard ads look much to neo, IMHO, but I am just learning.

No, the 1st Corso in the line up was Ch Belmonte Romulus di Godiva. He isn't hypertype, he was out of shape and limping yes...
The Corso is still all over the place as far as type is concerned. It comes to taste and preference to a degree.
If you look back at Corso history, as close as 40 years ago the Neo and Corso were on and the same dogs. Then the two breeds divided, the standards in a way created to differentiate between the 2 breeds. The Neo became what it is today and the Corso what it is. One of the main things the FCI standard included was that the Corso had to be undershot, where as the Neo is not. That now is taken to a scary degree IMO.

This is a great site on the history and morphology of the Corso by one of the founders.
Is a fun read but you need a translation program. I just gave the dumbed down version.

I read that boxers were introduced into the CC gene pool back when they were trying to get the breed back from extinction...

Yup, a huge congrats to Erik of Phantom CC breeder of Leo, and Leo's owner Chad....also to Zoe of Italica Terrae owner of Iara for her win, and Eduardo of Cane del Club CC in Brazil, breeder of Iara.

We'll see how many different directions the breed will go from here with all the new found publicity of the breed. I am sure it will continue to be a roller coaster ride.
