Anyone else doing Agility?

So we recently started agility with Black Jack. I am officially hooked :D We both LOVE it! He has been rocking it, loves it. I was concerned about how he would do with the tunnel, but even at full length he books it through... With the exception of the one time he veered away came back and decided to jump back and forth over it. I will try to get some pics but, is hard when I am running to keep up, damn he is a fast boy. Any one else here doing it? Experiences with it?

Cody I have not done it, but if PSA doesn't work out I might give it a try with Stone. I think he would have a good time like Jack does. :) Hey and don't forget to post pictures!

Our last obedience class used an agility course as part of our training and it was so funny to see this giant EM coming out of the tunnel, but it was her favorite part! It's not very hard to keep up with an EM on the course. I don't think she could ever win any agility contests but she does love the course for fun.

Conan at the age of 6 yrs received his 1st agility title with UKC and this year he is going for his title USDAA. He will be the first Presa ever in both to receive titles

It should just be fun, as long as he loves it is good enough for me lol. We have a long way to go before ever competing, but I love getting out with the knuckle head :) @ DD, my husband really wants to come so I may have someone taking pictures, otherwise it is kinda tough to do both.

I have Jiggers in agility, I really don't think it's something that Kryten would enjoy. Right now I know Jiggers is in much better shape then I am as proven by the fact he is bouncing after a circuit and I am panting from trying to keep up with him.

How old would you recommend an em to be start agility? I'd love to do something like that with my girl but am afraid of hurting her joints etc.

I think some of the training could be done younger, like the tunnel and lower jumps that sort of thing, just getting them used to the equipment. I have a friend who started around 10 months, but no A Frame, no higher jumps... I am a complete newb to the sport so there are probably better equipped people to ask :) ... We just started with Black Jack and he will be 2 in April. He absolutely loves it and I am hooked though, I am looking forward to competing once we get there!

I have Jiggers in agility and I choose to wait until he was 1. The 'bad' elements would be the jumps and weave poles as they can increase strain on the joints either by landing or lateral twisting. The other thing I would worry about would be the bridge/catwalk if she still has any puppy clumsiness because its not very wide and after the initial training it goes up to 4 feet high.

A word of advice for anyone looking to start agility, please make sure that your dog has a grasp of basic obedience first. I think we sat for about 3/4 of the class today while waiting for the others trying and failing to get their dog to sit, down or stay.

I'm surprised that they were even allow to participate. From the trainers I spoken to most want you to have at least basic OB down. Guess it varies.
