If I didn't count veggies and fruit, my caloric intake would be about 800-1000. With the veggies and fruit, which I eat a lot, my caloric intake is 1500-1800.

That is where most people fail because they do not eat enough and the body goes into starvation mode and the body will start to store instead of burning the calories you consume. 1000 calories is not enough, the average amount of calories needs to be in the 1500-2000 a day if you are exercising and depending if your hitting weights the calories you need will be higher per day.

That is why I advocate a cheat day. A cheat day resets your leptin, which is what drives your metabolism. When your body thinks it is starving, it holds onto the fat (and eats the muscle). To lose 1 lb a week, you need about a 500 calorie a day deficit, a pound is 3500 calories. So, most women would fall into the 1200-1500 calories range if they are trying to lose.

This thread is awesome. I've been silently following it, taking mental notes! Since I am FINALLY back home I can fully say that I have recommitted myself once again. I have noticed that just being home for 3.5 days now, I have already lost 3-4 lbs. My goal is to lose an additional 30 lbs. It's strange to me how different my mindset is at home compared to not being at home. All I want to do when I am away from home is eat. And eat. And eat some more. Nothing healthy, always junky fast food. I know that there is absolutely no way my body would look right going back to weighing 113-118 like I was years ago, but ideally, I would be happy getting back to 125.

Typically I am consuming 1400-1500 calories, drinking a lot of water & walking 3 miles per day. I need to clean up my eating a bit more & consume more fruits & veggies so I'll be keeping an eye on this thread to soak up all the good ideas you guys are posting. :)

These are all AWSOME tips. I don't drink coffee or smoke and it is always funny comparing myself to those that do because I am slightly bigger than them all. Them natural Laxative effects of both these bad habits is kind of funny because they are both bad for you and yet you lose weight when drinking coffee(with little sugar and little to no milk) or smoking. Also because like smoking or coffee I find myself snacking and eating a lot. Especially at work lol. I am slowly learning to snack on smaller and healthier snacks like almonds, berries, veggies, cheese and whole wheat crackers. I drink Tea in the morning either Earl Grey or Green tea depending my craving and I use 1 tbs of honey to sweeten it and a dash of milk.

Nuts are high in protein but also high in fat so be carefull of how many you snack on, a serving is like 10 nuts lol and also cheese high in fat, crackers ditch them and eat something that wont leave you wanting more. Protein and vegies are your friends, fruit limit it as its high in sugar, people can actually gain weight by eating alot of fruit. Ditch breads as well , they spike your blood sugar fast and then plumet and then you get those cravings for it. Lots and lots of water, no juice no pop. And yes one day a week CHEAT YOUR FACE OFF HAHAHAHAHA!

Raechie me too lol. I've been eating veggies all week, something that is hard for me. The active portion is easy working on a farm lol. No fat loss yet but I'm amazed at the energy I've obtained. So it's a good start so far. :)

That's bc you're a guy! Guys can cut out caffeine & drop 20 lbs like that! I know my body considers fat to be sacred & likes to hang onto it no matter what I do!

I am a 5 foot 4 inches (last time I measured) and weigh 145lbs right now. Just last year I was 130lbs and a year before that I was like 126lbs. I myself like the 130lb range but would prefer that 130lbs to be muscle haha.

I drink a cup of coffee a day! I don't think it is bad for you. Unless you go to Starbucks and get one that is 200 calories. Caffine is good for weight loss. I drink mine with a tiny bit of cream and stevia.

Muscle takes up less space than fat! I agree with you on your OP about going with how your clothes fit rather than a scale. 130 lbs fatty looks WAY different than 130 lbs with some muscle!

I am coming out of a bout of depression and trying to get the weight from my lack of motivation off. 1 year ago I was 133 lbs (I am 5'8") of lean muscle. I am up to 147 and would feel lots better being back in the 130s, so we are doing this together! I have always been fit and athletic and if makes me feel worse about myself when I am not up to my standards. It doesn't help that my husband is the fittest person I know.

You are the same height as me! I weighed in at 154.6 this morning. Not the heaviest I have ever been but enough to be uncomfortable. I am hour glass shaped & hold my fat in my mid section & thighs. The heaviest I have ever been was January of 2012 & I was 171-172. That was a very difficult time for me. Beginning of May of 2012 I was at 142. I was stupid enough & thought my renewed metabolism would be ok with bad eating habits & quickly got back up to 155-156. Dumb! As of Monday morning I was 160 exactly & I thought, seriously? You're 10 lbs away from being back at that dark place in your life again, is it worth it? And I just decided no. I think for myself I would be more confident at 125. But if I look & feel good at 130 then that's ok with me. My body has changed a lot since my 113-118 days & as much as I don't like it, I grew hips since then lol

Oh MAN! Hips are what screwed me over too! In Gr 10 and 11 I was a size 00 or 0 and than *BAM* Gr 12 hit and I was a size 7 LOL. My hips are what make me look bigger than I actually am too. I am more of a pair shape and I have a badon-ka-donk on me and with hips and an a** you can only guess which area of my body needs shaping lol thighs included. I am looing for more definition in my back and arms as well. The only area of my body that I don't see needing fixing are my calves they are actually really defined.

I was a kid/teenager that ate what ever they wanted and I walked everywhere or biked everywhere because I couldn't drive and my parents were working. I was a 0 pretty much my whole teenage years until gr 12.

Yep! Calves are my strong point! Up until recently I've always had nice arms too. Now they're just flabby. If I could spot lose anywhere on my body, just one spot, it would be my wonderful muffin top lol damn that thing. The only downfall to me losing weight is I lose the "fullness" of my chest but at this point I'd much rather cut the suckers off. Donate them to charity or something lol

I was 125-130 my entire life. Life was easy for me, I never watched what I ate. Then I hit 35. Now I am almost 41 and it is totally different. Getting old sucks!
