  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

We're in heat...I think.

Decided to take her to visit her cousin-dog Bella today. She was so happy to see her friend and be able to run around and play. Bella kept going back to her butt to check it out, but, in the end, all was well. They had a good tussle over the toys and shared some chew sticks.

The evening ended badly though because when we left, she dragged me out the door and my leather coat caught on the door latch to the screen door and the resulting tussle ended in two large rips on the sleeve.

She's sulking because she was punished. Back to basics: human first, dog second.

And the prisoner shall be set free...after a bath, of course. We are finished with the first heat. So, from the first day we noticed blood spotting - Jan 17 to today Feb 7 (two full days no blood) Three Weeks, bang on.

Finally thoughts: Vet was a fear monger, no blood all over the walls. She spotted here and there, and the second week was much worse than the first and third, but, it's doable without diapers or crating. Just invest in some used black sheets from your local Goodwill or other thrift store. Cover beds and furniture, stock up on paper towels and kleenex and proactively dab away excess blood often.

My dog must have thought I was crazy because every half hour, I'd gently dab her vulva to remove any excess blood. One thing that really helped was having my husband on board. He was very supportive, and since he's a clean freak, that's really saying something. Bailey couldn't have asked for a better, more loving Daddy.

So, 6 months, yeah? Well, we'll be prepared. Just one bath stands between Bailey and fun with the pack at the dog park. "Hi, gang, I'm back!"

Yay!! Have fun Miss Bailey :)

Just a slight forewarning: it's possible that her next heat will be nothing like the first. When Duch went through heat #2, it was much worse than round #1. Not trying to scare you or anything. It sounds like you guys are pretty prepared so I wouldn't worry about it.
