Puppy- severe infection

They may have had to force-ably restrain him too, to treat him. Which could result in bruising.

But I'd be willing to give him a few days to see how he heals. If he sat on that one side for to long I can see it screwing with that hip. I could see that.

And I know when I have the runs my butt gets sore, so I can see that.

I'm glad he's better!

I wouldn't jump to conclusions about them maliciously manhandling him.. If he was upset and they needed to restrain him, im sure they wouldn't deliberately overdo it. Unless you have other reasons to question their practices, I would give him a few days to recover. Poor buddy!! I hope he's back to his old self soon. About the vaccines, I agree that overdoing it is harmful. With my children and pets, I take a holistic approach to health, and tend to steer clear of vaxxing. I believe the studies show that annual boosters are even more than healthy adults need.

Great news! While I don't recall dogs getting shots in the butt area is it possible where he is sore is an injection site?

Glad he is home and doing better! My thoughts were the same as Angelbears, sore/painful from getting an injection, especially if given in a muscle.

Wait, your pup had THREE shots by the time he was 10 weeks??

You REALLY need to look up what the potential side affects of over vaccination are. BEFORE you give that pup another shot. And if you're STILL concerned about whether he's got antibodies please consider titering before giving yet ANOTHER shot. The ones he got were all given young enough its possible he does need another one, but you REALLY need to space them out WAY further AND consider the potential side effects before doing so.

well it is already too late as yesterday I already got the first rabies shot and another booster. hopefully there will be no negative side effects.

Some reading for you:

Study on Duration of Immunity to Canine Vaccines Dr. Dobias Healing Solutions

The Purdue Vaccination Studies and Auto-antibodies Dogs Naturally Magazine
This means that the vaccinated dogs — â€but not the non-vaccinated dogsâ€â€“ were attacking their own fibronectin, which is involved in tissue repair, cell multiplication and growth, and differentiation between tissues and organs in a living organism.

.......

The vaccinated Purdue dogs also developed autoantibodies to laminin, which is involved in many cellular activities.........

The Purdue studies also found that vaccinated dogs were developing autoantibodies to their own collagen. About one quarter of all the protein in the body is collagen.

I'm so glad that your pup has made it home! I've worked alot with very sick pets and diarrhea can really hurt their rears. I've used Beaudreux's butt paste or a&d ointment by instruction from a vet. The same kind that is used for human babies. It seems to help.

Hi guys sorry for taking so long to reply. The tests that we took showed that his liver enzymes were abnormally high which can happen if the dog ingests a chemical of some sort or anything harmful; he didnt have any kind of disease, just an infection as a consequence of whatever he ate.
He is recovering fine and the swelling on his back has dissipated quiet a bit. His stools are still loose, but hopefully improve soon enough. His energy level is back to normal; overall he seems to be recovering just fine. Thank you for all your support guys, I really appreciate it.

Thats what I was thinking alchohol or some chemical. It doesn't take much for dogs either. I would have it checked again in a week or two to make sure he is fuctioning fine internally. Glad it worked out for you guys, that is too stressfull.

Yes i am planning on taking him to the doctor in a couple of days, another thing i want to get checked by him is that there is this constant limp he has, it's one of the front two legs, i can't tell which one though. It's been there for almost a month now and i can recall a couple of times where he got floured pretty hard. His pain threshhold is soo high that no injury seems to phase him and he is like a mini tank hitting and running through everything. It's hard to keep him contained or calm since all he wants to do is run around!
Thanks Chuck, Ruth and Ace you guys are always a great help!
