:) it is at that point that we can get bit. Later in training the dog is off the leash and some dogs will try to duck under the sleeve or when they get to you they will jump up, also if you don't keep the arm moving the will star climbing the sleeve and get you on the shoulder.

It is great fun, especially when done at night with just the moon light. Funny enough a dog that is brave during the day may behave completely differently at night. :) there was one that I will never forget, Bandit was his name. Black long coat GSD, so mean that would sometimes nip the handler during attacks. But on the first evening training the dog actually hid behind the handler, it was really weird. With some cajoling and confidence boosting the dog eventually got it.

    Great video, thanks for sharing...

Something was said before about firm, not harsh... Filas are extremely submissive to their owners....smack one and you just ended training for either the rest of the day or the rest of the week...these dogs do not take well to harsh treatment by their masters at all.

Yea If Kona aint distracted she loves to be a good girl. At chow time you dont have t say a word she knows she sits, then looks me in the eye's, then waits for me to slide the bowl to her. To me one of the most important things she or any dog can know is a word that just means stop. I say no or if worse comes o worse, ENOUGH, and she knows.

Odly enough when me and her play, we play pretty rough. If I say GOOD GIRL she stops and goes right to kisses. hahahaha. Then to watch her hang her head when she gets a NO. hahahaha

The issue for us is that there aren't enough of us, only 120 active and the only way to get in is if someone leaves. With a minimum contract being 3 years, and the average stay 5 to 6 years, longer now with the economic climate.

There is also a limit of age, at 30 years old you either go to Sargent, or leave the Air Force, so most join the Police or emigrate. I chose to emigrate to the UK, but kept in contact with the bases, my colleagues and friends back at home, like family. It is awesome when we all meet, old and young, some of the guys have been on our colonial wars in 61. Dogs are the glue that join us.

I will try to introduce Filas to the team, as I think that it will be a good choice of breed, but not the heavy large Filas, anything over 50 kg is too big to keep up with a handler, I would think.

I think that would be cool to see definitely tell us if they look into or trying fila I'd love to see it even though I remain skeptical and 120 people is nothing.. that allows for little growth they should at least double it but i'm sure that's what keeps you guys so close

I believe that the Fila would be suitable, but I will have to try one myself first. On paper it has the credentials for it, but in real life may behave differently. It is a question of trying and seeing if it will work.

We got a mix of dogs, mostly GSD's, but we take Pit Bulls, Estrela Mountain Dogs, Rotties, Malinois and Bouviers. There is also a talk of trying Black Russian Terriers.

Yes, 120 is too little a number to be active at a time, but also ensures that if one is there for the wrong reasons is quickly weeded out. The dogs are the priority at all times. The joke is that the dog is worth two of us, so we really take care of them, maybe more than if they were our own pets.

With a Fila, what does a tail tucked down between their legs mean?
