Does your cane corso get a lot of attention in public?

Same experience for me as many posting. I too get frustrated when people mis-pronounce the breed. I typically will just tell interested folks he is a Italian Mastiff to avoid the confused looks when I tell them he is a Cane Corso. We walk the neighborhood in the evenings every day and it is rare if we do not get stopped at least once with a question about what kind of dog is that. I've had a few mention he looks like a lab or a solid black rottie, I usually just correct them and tell them they are still a relatively rare breed here in the States.

The ABSOLUTE worst is I know a guy who has 2 Corsi, and a Presa x CC and he says kane instead of kah-ney...I don't want to correct him because it's like telling him he doesn't know the first thing about his own dogs. But he doesn't...ugh, dumb people.

i had 2 people telling me it's "KING" Corso.. the older guy said because in america it is KING corso. that this isn't Italy so stop saing Kah-ney. The one guy said he did not believe the guy have a CC, that he might be confused. His dogs legs were stumpy tho and the coat was sleeker.

I get the same thing with my 2 CC...mostly "is that a pit mix" or "what type of mix is that"? I actually bought a shirt that says "They are Cane Corso...Not a Pitbull...Not a Rotweiler...Not a Boxer...Not a Mix...They are Cane Corso" and it still doesn't help!! LOL...I even had a woman at Tractor Supply tell me Titan was not an Italian Mastiff because she has a Russian Mastiff and he looks nothing like her dog....well no shit...he's an Italian Mastiff not a Russian Mastiff why would he look like your dog!! I normally always have people at the Vet asking "what type of dog is that...he is so gorgeous...can we take a picture of him"? I love my Babies and it makes me feel even more proud of them when people tell me how great they look!!

Yes!! Our puppy is 10 weeks and her cropped ears are still healing. People are constantly coming up to her like "aww my
goodness she's adorable what is she? Why did you cut her poor ears?" That question drives me crazy. Mind your own
business, it's not like CC's are the only breed with docked tails and cropped ears (i.e. Doberman and boxers) yet you don't
see people freaking out about them. Ugh. Has anyone dealt with the same thing?
Within the first 3 days of having our pup (ears cropped 3 days earlier) we went to a park that also has a dog park for a friends going away party. As we were carrying our puppy to keep him up from the other dogs one of the other owners asked"oh, is that the puppy that got attacked yesterday?" thinking his ears were a result of the attack! :)

Even as a puppy he gets a lot of attention. Everyone thinks he's a oversized pitbull or a pitbull mastiff mix. I did meet a few people that knew exactly what he was, and were excited to 'finally' see one. I've also met someone in town that has a female, she's a police officer in the town, we've let our dogs play together. She also gets tons of attention.
When ours was young 2-4 mos, we always got "is that a Sharpei?"

ALL.THE.TIME. And most people are intimidated by him but when I assure them he is friendly, they cannot get enough of him. And he ABSOULTELY loves all of the attention. I honestly think sometimes he stops and stands there waiting for someone to comment about him so he can get the attention.

It's so cool to know my dog isn't the only one that gets this kind of attention. I've literally had people get me to pull over on the side of the road just to meet her. It was really awkward at first but now that she is older I've come to realize what a loyal, legendary and majestic creature she is. I simply love it!!!

When my megafauna was a puppy he got *lots* of good comments when out in public, both for his nature and his looks

Now he's adult and larger he tends to polarise people, so I'm very, very careful about letting him off-leash in public- hardly do it at all these days.

About half the population adores him and will call him over, some people even give him a big pat straight up ( fortunately he's a cruisy bloke and loves people ). The other half are very, very nervous and I consider their reactions unreliable to the point where they scare me.

If he's off leash in public I call him back and put him on if strangers are around. It only takes one idiot to say he's rushed them- even if he was miles away- and he could be on death row. It's my job to protect him from idiots

My dog has fans. He's so big and happy the locals smile like crazy if I'm walking on neighbouring properties and he sees them and is allowed to run over to them. There is a running joke that quite a few ppl come and visit my dog and I'm just there to provide food for the duration. A couple of locals like to drop in and if I'm not home they'll play with my dog for fifteen minutes- they did ask first, and I can see them on the security cameras, so I'm really happy with that arrangement

Sophie gets lots of attention prolly because she is the only one in the county. We go everywhere together so she gets out and around alot. She has reached the Aloof Attitude stage and people she doesn't know she pays no mind to. People with whom she is acquainted she is very cheerful and bouncy with. At the park, people pass by us and say good morning to Sophie routinely. Though one woman, new to the area, walked by us and told me I have a very scary looking dog. I countered "I wonder what she thinks of YOU" with a piquant grin and she laughed. We've seen her since and she is now asking to pet my scary looking dog. Most people stop and look at her, say she is beautiful, what kind is she, and does she bite. She plays on the play structure at the park, and the kids there are trying to play tag with her. The sheriff thinks she is beautiful and well behaved. So yes, she gets a lot of attention. Somehow I think she prefers to not be acknowleged as she takes her "work" very seriously.
