Does your cane corso get a lot of attention in public?

well?

In physical appearance, they are imposing, powerful, and majestic. They literally stop traffic and turn heads wherever they go

Ummm... YES. Lol, a walk takes a while. I am prepared to be stopped multiple times and answer all sorts of questions. Pretty much every walk we take someone pulls their car over to ask questions. I know others get aggravated by it, but I am fine. I just always allow extra time on my walks for this. Hell if I didn't pull my car over in down town Montreal in 1996 and jump out to harass someone walking their CC I never would have found out about the breed. :)

every time i go out in public i get stopped a LOT. I try and bring her downtown to the waterfront to get a lot of exposure, and i at least get stopped 10 times every time i bring her down there. Of course if people see me trying her in the little field at the waterfront then normally leave us alone. I just hope eventually i will train her enough to not get so excited when we meet people.... and dogs:D A lot of the people that actually know the breed surprise me. Last week a older lady was walking by us and stopped to ask if it was a cc... i always look suprised and say "yes, normally people don't know the breed around here!" My corso is the only one i have seen in my whole state. I have never seen one until i got mine!

Constantly. Especially at the park when she plays with her cc friend. Every one just gives them space and watches them play completely forgetting they should be watching their own dogs.

My CC is just a pup, but everybody loves him. People I don't even know have stopped there car to comment on how fast he is growing when we are on walks.

He also has a penchant for bird dogging young women. Admittedly they are probably the demo that stops and gives him belly rubs most often... But as a young single man myself, Rocco is turning out to be the best wingman Ive got.

Also, "What kind of dog is that?" 200 times a day.

You can have Cane Corsos in Australia, I have a friend currently waiting for a puppy from a breeder there. Or do you mean that in your region of Australia you can not have them?

People are always stopping and asking and my puppy owners get the same thing. I guess I should be a disclaimer in their puppy packs with some dark shades telling them prepared to be a celebrity! :p

I love it!
But it's true, we have spent the summer educating people about Corsos. Most have never heard of them, but they love her calm and extremely friendly behaviour. And they are always amazed that she doesn't bark or whine, she just sits down and stares at people. When they come up to her, she erupts into extreme wiggles and squiggles, people just melt.
I've only had one lady ask me/tell me - "That's a Cane Corso, isn't it?" I was amazed. They are still very rare here. Most people look at her size and colour and tell me I have a very good looking lab. Grrr!
Oh, Mailman 101: Don't wear shades. Bailey doesn't like shades. "What is he up to, Mommy, I can't see his eyes." The mailman is not a friend because his glasses make him look like a praying mantis.

My favorite are the people who try to tell us what kind of dog we have. "Oh, is that a pit? It's a pit, right? Are you sure it's not a pit?"

Ummm yes, we're quite sure!

Then there's the others who think we have some giant mutant lab. Regardless, Gio just LOVES to eat up all the attention!

The only thing that bothers me is when they try to guess his breed instead of asking lol

I live on a country road and for the most part when I walk Leo early in the morning there are not many others out at the same time, so I don't get many that stop, but I do see people almost go off the road cocking there heads around to get a better look as they pass.

People are always stopping to ask "what kind of dog is that". They are always sooo surprised when he snubs their hand hahaha (he's not one for strangers). I always get a lot of "Is that a Shar pei?" "That's a Shar pei". NOPE!

Kids are also the worst at approaching.. This one little girl ran up so fast and shot her hand out like a bullet towards my puppies face before I even got a word in! He nearly jumped out of his skin! Its a bit irritating. Maybe when he's full grown they'll hesitate atleast.

I took Carma to the regular park last weekend and surprisingly there were about 4 other families with dogs there. We got a lot of "what breed is that" but that's nothing unusual. The crazy part was the kids would run up to her and she didn't mind at all. Then when the parents came to try to "protect their kids" from the big bad dog, Carma started guarding the kids. She really isn't into strangers unless they are kids. I don't know if she has a cut off age or height or what. Love my girl!

Thats how kato is. He will start to get protective when an adult approaches, but then mooshes when there are kids.
He can be a crazy aligator with us but when the niece's get near him he will let them do anything without even a nibble.
And the people who argue with you that its a kane, not kah-ney.

I don't even say Cane Corso anymore. I just say Italian Mastiff now.
Exactly what I've been doing...just because I cant stand to hear people say "kane" instead of "kah-ney". Italian Mastiff is just easier for people who have no idea what a CC is...most people know what mastiffs are, and sometimes even that there are different types.

We get stopped a lot and answer tons of questions. It bugs my husband, but not me. My dog is really well behaved and I like for people to have a picture of him in their minds if they hear negative things.

Same goes for "Mufasa". Thats a big lab....Is he a pit. I tell them no he's a CC and they get this strange look on their face. I was surprised that 2 people at pet smart knew what type of dog he is. They were soo in love with him. One of them was a dog trainer there, so we picked her to be his puppy school trainer.
