  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Yes or no?

This >>>>>"Even if he wears too much Aqua Net." LOL!!!

Don't misunderstand, I wasn't suggesting you do a rescue, ***Not even close***
I was just explaining why I have no experience with breeders. I just never seem to get that far.
I see now it reads like I'm suggesting you rescue--NOT!!!!

Like you, I have established pets, cats, & live across from an elementary school. I too like big serious dogs...So I too went for a puppy.
Had 3 rottie breeders locally---then I saw Tessa's face when looking at rottie's in rescue & fell in love...

So I adopted a rottie mix...& um...well...here I am...
Not a drop of rottie in her.
Until Tessa, I thought rotties *were* serious dogs.
Never even knew a dog could be stoic LOL

You know what you want, & you should go for it.
Looking at the genetics of the parents for this litter, it looks like a good strong match for a healthy litter. I don't doubt that part at all.

Have you also compared with other breeders or is this just the beginning of your search? I've not been here & not up to date with all of the posts.
Just not sure why you're unsure, it seemed because of the looks of the father.

Well, here is what I know. Leeloo and Winnie's parents are my pups grandparents on her mom's side. My pup and her mom are Black and Tan. I also could not be happier with my pup for what thats worth to you. Also LEGEND'S KAILAS HIMALAYAN I believe is Apollos dad as well. That breeder is a great breeder from all I heard. I know your concern is Sasha colour and I know nothing about his side but his whole family tree is filled withdarker golds and black and tans as well. I bet many pups will be darker than him and some maybe even Black and Tan.

Good temperament and health tests as well as both those breeders are regarded as great by many. It looks as these pups will be a good size and the parents are said to have great movement. In the end a TM is more than just a colour, maybe put a deposit on a Black and Tan? What other breeder are you considering?

I also looked a Kobo before even reading the thread and was like wow! Can't wait to see full grown pics of him one day.

Yup! Though I'll note that Apollo's mother is a Black and Tan with a very rich red tan, so again, how much of the color came from dad and how much from mom. On the other hand I'll have to remember to watch that page to see what the pups look like!

Yes, they are both good breeders. I'm just going to request a male puppy with a temperament that fits well with our family. Color is not important. The yes or no question was more of a joke. Because, seriously, look at that hairdo.

I've been checking on Dawa but they don't have any planned breedings on their website. I might email them just in case they are breeding but haven't updated their page.

HAHA, ya his hair is kinda nuts, that probably took one of those circle combs and a blow dryer (I am too lazy to even do that to my hair!) :p ! Well looks like you will have an exciting late winter! Remember to post pictures. Where did you get Athena from?

Those are some gorgeous pooches at Sunset TM site too.

Any links to pics of Sasha without the 'mall hair' ??? I'd like to see what he looks like "au natural"--

[FONT=Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]Please refer to Sasha's facebook page, or just do a web search, there are plenty of pictures of him in every day life. As for the "mall hair" well it just does that, no round brush, no blow outs. In fact he is extremely easy to prep for a show, you just brush him out. I see the other TM owners applying gobs of product to get volume, and brushing and blowing....

It would be really too bad if you got a pup with that cursed hair, because there are so many that would love to have it. It is in the words of Angela Tenderman (Helena's breeder - the Dam of Sasha) one of the hardest things to breed for.

And now I am going to sign off and watch my favorite TV show "Big Hair Texas"

OOOhhhh--you're Kobo's Mom too right??

I'm dying to see pics from pup to present--there's not enough on the website. --it's necessary--seriously.
I'm really sorry about the mall hair remarks--but the chicks did dig Bon Jovi- & he had big hair too.

I will beg beg beg to get some puppy pics of Kobo--I saw a pic of his daddy--wow!!! and the mom too, but not enough of Kobo--I can't believe his color & that sweet sweet face.
Those lips are the best!!! he looks like the toughest cuddle bug ever!

Please please please!!!!

No, one of Sasha's Dads. It's OK, we are used to the hair comments. I chalk it up mostly to a kinda "endowment envy" of sorts. Denise at CFAR is the Breeder, and she has pictures of Kobo on her facebook, CFAR tibetan mastiffs, as well as the puppies. Dan and Lois also have some great pictures of their Litters on their DAWA website. These pups come from littermate parents of SASHA a boy and a girl. In fact, Gaga has even more hair than Sasha and is stupendous if you like that kind of thing. It will be nice to see all of these pups mature.

Gaga has so much hair. I would put pigtails on her if she were mine. :)

How is the long hair to keep up with? Does it tangle easily?

Well that pretty cool that he doesn't need to do all that hair prep (wish my human hair did that lol). I remember seeing the pictures of Gaga a bit ago, just running in the snow (believe it was snow), her fur floppy around, she is cute/pretty.

Broc, no the Thick guard hair does not tangle it just lays there. When they are pups they do get very fine cottony hair that does tangle, it seems to be part of the under coat. you have to be careful under the ears that you don't let this get out of control otherwise it just turns into a ball. All of our TMS have a Bonnet of this as babies, but this dog hand more of it. All three of our TMs need combing to keep the air moving in the undercoat otherwise they get itchy or worse hot spots.

We have three Tibetans, from three breeders, we did this on purpose to get a good variety pack.

We will be picking our "Pick puppy" this week, that is going to be super hard as they are all stunning! I must say the girls in this litter are truly exceptional, Princess Peach being my favorite, but we are taking a boy.

see, thats part of why I don't care for the extra fluffy coats. Even with that fluffy puppy afro Apollo's wasn't bad to deal with. A once a week brush was plenty unless he was shedding, and even then as long as I brushed his ears with the rest of him it was fine. Sasha's a handsome dog, but I just don't care for the poof!

I do have to say that I can't wait to see how Kobo matures too!

Once a week? No where near that. We brush once a month, when they get their bath, unless they are dropping coat. The red boy requires the most attention, my Theory is that the Red dogs have more sensitive skin Kinda like red headed people, but then we only have one Red dog, so it is not much of a scientific sampling.

The longer coat also PREVENTS dirt and debris from entering the coat, which is why the Tibetan Mastiff has this kind of coat.

The Standard is: Double-coated, with fairly long, thick coarse guard hair, with heavy soft undercoat in cold weather which becomes rather sparse in warmer months. Hair is fine but hard, straight and stand-off; never silky, curly or wavy. Heavy undercoat, when present, rather woolly. Neck and shoulders heavily coated, especially in dogs, giving mane-like appearance.

Yah, but once a week gives me an easy extra check of him and he enjoys it.

He's got a thick double coat with long guard hairs that sheds dirt and a thick undercoat, its just not poofy.

Yes, the girls are great. Peach is the one who looks like Sasha as a pup, right? Are you looking for another gold pup or a black and tan? I think Bowser is my favorite black and tan. He has a nice head. The two gold males look a lot alike.

Could you tell that Sasha would have such long hair on his head as a puppy?
