So I watched a show last nightcalled, "I Cloned My Pet". I saw an ad for it yesterday afternoon and made sure to set my DVR to record it.
There I am last night, watching all these grieving people who have lost their dogs, and how they have an opportunity to clone them through a Korean company. As I watch I start to regrieve the lose of my previous dogs (and a cat) and started wondering if given the chance (and 50 thousand spare dollars), would I do it. I came up with a no on the dogs, only because of the heartache their passing caused and knowing it would only come too soon again. The cat, well, he was taken too soon as well, by way of a tire that was attached to a car.

So, would you clone your pet?

Know there is also more that goes into it. Surrogate mothers, waiting times into the years if the pregnancy doesn't take.

I watched it too! I understand those people loved their pets but where do you draw the line? After these puppies die are you going to clone them too? And so on and on? Also I wonder if any of the clones start acting not so much like their predecessor if they will be kicked to the curb. I did feel really bad for the lady in jail that probably would never see her puppy again but they also didn't say why she was in jail. I also felt bad for the guy's girlfriend because with two Wolfies going home with them she's at the bottom of the food chain. I don't think I would clone my pets. As much as I love them all and will be devestated if anything happens to any of them, I just don't think I could do it. My cat was getting mad at the tv though because his name is Wolfman and we call him Wolfie so everytime they would say wolfie he'd come out thinking we were calling him.

LOL @ calling the cat.

She was in jail for illegaly (obviously) transporting fire arms. Talk about doing a number to yourself... It would be bad enough if I had just shipped a new dog to myself and then was arrested for something. I couldn't imagine being in her shoes. What a great looking pup he was too!

And yes, that girlfriend is 3rd fiddle until the day she leaves.

I don't think so. Even though they may act and look just like their predecessor, in my heart I would know that the original had passed. Besides almost every pet that I have owned takes a piece of my heart. Too clone one and not the others just would not seem right.

I wonder if she was transporting to get the money to clone the dog. Regardless, he was gorgeous!

Oh wow. I would be devestated if I paid 100 grand for a dog I would never get to see. You would think if the dog meant so much she wouldn't have been doing stuff that could've gotten her sent to jail.

!00 grand ????? Nuts!

Yep the lady who went to jail paid 100 grand to clone her mastiff/great dane mix and this other guy paid 100 grand to clone his dog and of the 5 clones, only 2 survived and he took them both home. Then this other lady paid 50 grand for her dog when she had lost her job and had like no money.

no I would hate to take away from the memory of the original, plus money like that could go a long way at helping dogs that are alive right now without a home

This, and it seems mean to have such expectations of the cloned puppy, even a clone will never be "the same" dog. Besides, as hard as it is to lose a pet, it's exciting to start over again with a new pet, I think every dog has something to offer, I look forward to meeting each of them in my future :)

I honestly don't get when people have 3, 4, or 5 of the same breed at the same time (no offence to those of you that do!). I get that they love the breed, but try out another breed and have some fun! I LOVE Dobermans, I'll probably always have one, maybe even 2... but I think I'll always have at least one other breed in the home too, to make things more interesting, plus, I love so many breeds that I want to have the chance to have in my home, I'd like a Giant Schnauzer someday, maybe a Beauceron, Cane Corso, maybe some other mastiffs or mastiff mixes (Branka is pretty darn awesome!), maybe a Frenchie (they're pretty cool for little dogs). I guess I like a little variety :)
