Hi!
I am so happy to have discovered this gem, to know there are so many Mastiff owners/friends that are passionate about the breed!
My boy, Barney, is only 5 but has recently been diagnosed with DCM. In short, his heart is immense, three times the size it should be. He seems comfortable enough at the moment (but how can you really tell, with a stoic breed) but we are on borrowed time. I WILL not let him linger just because I can't deal with losing him. We had Bullmastiff's and a Rottweiler that had advanced diseases and I was selfish. I owe it to my best friend to let him go out on top of his game. At the moment, my only coping mechansim is lots of hugs and pets AND poking around the internet to see what breeders are reputable and consistent. Someday we will be lucky enough to share our lives with another Dogue. They really are the best. I look forward to looking around this forum, seeing all the wonderful advice fellow DDB lovers have to offer.
