  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

What a nice place to find!

Hi!
I am so happy to have discovered this gem, to know there are so many Mastiff owners/friends that are passionate about the breed!
My boy, Barney, is only 5 but has recently been diagnosed with DCM. In short, his heart is immense, three times the size it should be. He seems comfortable enough at the moment (but how can you really tell, with a stoic breed) but we are on borrowed time. I WILL not let him linger just because I can't deal with losing him. We had Bullmastiff's and a Rottweiler that had advanced diseases and I was selfish. I owe it to my best friend to let him go out on top of his game. At the moment, my only coping mechansim is lots of hugs and pets AND poking around the internet to see what breeders are reputable and consistent. Someday we will be lucky enough to share our lives with another Dogue. They really are the best. I look forward to looking around this forum, seeing all the wonderful advice fellow DDB lovers have to offer.

Welcome! I'm very sorry about Barney. It sounds like his time here is being spent with a wonderfully loving family! (The greatest gift any of us can get.) I will be praying for him! I think you will find some great information and wonderfully supportive community!

Sorry to hear that. As a fellow ddb owner it is hard to deal with actually knowing they are in pain. I feel for you and commend you for the tough decision you made for him (when the time comes).

Welcome to the board and I am so sorry to hear about your boy. I understand how hard it is. I, too, have had to make the decision and once was very selfish with my boy that I had a bond with that exceeds the normal dog/owner bond. I couldn't/wouldn't let go and I am sure he would have preferred to go earlier but I just couldn't find it in myself or convince myself that he was ready. :-(

Here's to hoping you still have some long, happy years together! My boss had a neuf with an enlarged heart. He did well with medications for a number of years. I think he was 8 when he passed away.
