This thread was very enlightening. I've been researching BB breeders, but now I think I'm doing it all wrong!
I really loved the Spitsvurr line, and I'm surprised that it was spoken against, which is making me question everything since most of the breeders I have been watching use their stock. I live in South Central PA, about 15 minutes from Gettysburg, 1 hour from Baltimore. I was looking at Breeders that were in driving distance (8hrs or less). I was looking at Darkwater (which I see was spoken of well here), Mid Atlantic (although their dogs are a bit stockier than I like), Buckeye (not exactly within my driving timeframe) and Terry Allen, when they got iPod, I thought "that's it, that's what I want my BB to look like" even though I realize his coloring wasn't desirable to the breed. Since then, I've just kinda sat back and watched and stalk facebook pages and websites. I could care less what color dog I get, the personality and breeder quality is way more important to me, and I will also need to make sure the breeder pairs me with the right pup, I don't even really want to say "that's the one I want" because having had two litters of puppies myself in the past I was really able to see that there are SIGNIFICANT differences from one puppy to the next in the same litter. I need a dog that is more calm, submissive, serious but playful. I would never be able to pick out the "right" puppy for me from just pictures or one meeting....
Anyway....
I had even considered importing from SA but now I'm just not sure. It seems like the more "informed" I get, the more I start to question and doubt everything I've learned.
Another BB breeder I haven't seen much on..... Mount Royal Boerboels.... I know the owner/breeder is a vet, and apparently they have a Maryland and Tennessee location...but something just seems....off. I don't even know what, I just feel like something isn't right there. Anyone have experience with Mount Royal? Since they are relatively close to me, I'd like to decide whether or not to cross them off my list of potential breeders.
Thanks!
