  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

So tempted, hold me back

Okay, breeder that I absolutely love has 2 litters on the ground (or will have two litters on the ground soon, 1 is here, the other is on its way). Anyway, I contacted him about using one of his stud dogs as he has everything that I am looking for in a stud. Three of his dogs are to die for and they have they are international champions. His dad started the kennel and he has kept it going so the kennel is older than I am. He finally got back to me and mentioned the puppies. My husband is all for getting our male now and not in 6 months to a year. What do you think? Should I wait?

Wait, why I am asking you guys? I am sure that you are going to tell me to go ahead and get on the puppy.

Northern...do you really need to ask? Come on lady, you know you have made your mind up. Now just tell us when the new baby arrives and make sure you send lots of photos. :razzberry:

Now think about what you just said and all the 'reasonable' threads i get in to and ask yourself...should I really be listening to MM?? hahaha. But you know I speak the truth when i say no amount of us saying wait, wait, wait, is going to make anyone wait if they got their mind set on a puppy, and a perfect puppy at that. So why should I lie to you, go get your new baby and SEND PICTURES!

Cost is the biggest reason. Do I have the money to put out for both the stud fee in the fall/winter and a puppy now? Along with all the additional testing and training and certificates and showing before we breed? The kids could eat Mr. Noodles for the year I guess. LOL. Just kidding. I will have to crunch the numbers and look at it from that point on.

Now, Now, Now!!!! Talk to the stud owner and see if you can pay 1/2 up front and then the other once confirmed or once the puppies arrive.

Hmmm, that could work. I am also talking to him about using one of his other studs for a litter so maybe. Darn you Mary, you aren't supposed to put these ideas in my head. LOL

If you get the pup now and he is amazing and everything works out health wise etc couldnt you use him as a stud and save on stud fee's but breed a little later?

LOL! Trust me, most stud owners will work with you and potentially he might prefer a puppy if you are agreeable and then there is no cash out of hand or that could be the option, when the puppies arrive he takes a puppy or the stud fee. Most are pretty flexible, at least I think so the ones I have worked with have been great!
