Please Help Our 1 yr old male English Mastiff bit our daughter

You got some tears from me Amanda, it must be heart wrenching to leave him each time. But remember each visit is another day closer to having him home.

It tears me up to leave him! Almost every time I walk out I am in tears! However I know that with each visit we are another day closer to having him with us which makes it a little easier than the last time I visited! Today was especially hard to leave him because I wanted to just sit in his kennel with him and love on him seems how I haven't really been able to pet him and touch him and love on him, other than sliding my hand in thru the gap at the bottom of the kennel since he went to doggy jail! I can not wait to have him back home.... even with the kiddos here the house is still lonely because Diesel isnt here. The things that I did with him before he went to doggy jail like taking him on walks, playing with him, and even cuddling with him on the floor at night I cant do and it is very hard....... I feel like I lost my best friend! However, I know that he will be home and back with our family really soon!

It has been hell week at work for me and I was jut able to read the whole thread. You will have him home soon. And do not feel bad about anything. Everything happens for a reason (I am not trying to minimize the situation), and I think we have all learned something, good, bad, ugly. I am glad your daughter is doing good. I know some posts have been deleted, but I can tell you that me and my husband got the "Asshole parent of the year" award one year. We have a son that always cried wolf and made the biggest deal about the smallest little scrape. Well, he fell at daycare and got a hair line fracture in his elbow and we did not take him to the doctor for another day. I was devestated and felt so bad. So after that I have always been "better safe then sorry". Maybe someone should come and take my kid, LOL. Keep going strong, and take that sweet four legged baby of yours on a long walk with the whole family when you pick him up. He will have a lot of energy to burn!!!! Keep us posted

So I went to visit Diesel today and we got some really good news. HE WILL BE BACK AT HOME WITH US WEDNESDAY NIGHT I am so excited!!! Two more sleepless nights and my baby boy will be home!

I have been allowed to actually go in his kennel and sit with him for the last three days and I will be able to do the same thing tomorrow when I go to visit! They have been allowing me to change out his blankets as well as his food and water bowls. The girl that has been letting me go into the kennel has buttered him up with cookies (milk bones) the last few days so he actually has become pretty fond of her lol! It seems like it has been forever since he has been home with us but our journey of being away from him is slowly coming to an end! Thank God! Im ready for him to be back home w us.

Wow! This has been a crazy thread. I'm glad I came in when I did...at the happy ending part. Amanda, I am so glad your daughter is healed and Diesel is on his way home!

So, since you choose not to respond on your other thread I am going to ask you here. This may come off as rude but if so I apologize, I am going to ask what everyone else is thinking. First, who is your breeder? I know if I told my breeder her pup was in doggy jail the last thing on her mind would be selling me another pup. second who is your trainer? On one thread you and your trainer got to take diesel out to show what he knows but on this thread you only get to see him in his cage. With all due respect why even start a thread asking peoples opinions when you ignore the replies then pretend the thread doesn't exist? good luck with the puppy...

Just to clarify about what Cway is talking about when it comes to the new pup. Yes, we are getting a new pup as a playmate for Diesel. However Diesel will be home and hopefully settled back in to the routine of things and training will be well underway before the new baby comes home to our house. I know some have mixed feelings on the idea of a new pup for Diesel to bond with while in training and all of that stuff. I have carefully thought out the entire thing and have a plan if it is too much for Diesel to handle. Some will ask what that plan is....... well here it goes......
Once Diesel comes home today he will have tonight and all day tomorrow to spend just with his family and to get in back in the swing of things at home and to burn off some of the energy that he has stored up. Friday will be our first actual training session with the trainer. Sunday we are taking Diesel out to introduce him to the new puppy. Depending on how well he handles that (which I dont foresee a big issue) we will take him out every couple of days to slowly introduce him to the pup and to get him acquainted with the pup. Then after a few meetings we will begin to bring the puppy here for a short periods of time so the puppy will be in his area. If that all goes well then the puppy when ready will come home for good. I know you are going okay, but what if puppy gets home for good and Diesel can not handle going thru training and all of that...... Well I have a plan for that as well......(which has been discussed with our breeder) Worst case scenario the puppy will be taken to my mom (who has experience with mastiffs) and once Diesel had completed training he will still have a play mate close by that he can play with or we will try to bring the puppy back home and give it another shot. Either way at this point I feel it is a win-win situation for Diesel because he will either have a playmate at home or a playmate at grandma's house.......
