I feed a sweetpotato and white fish by diamond. I assumed allergies based on this persisitent rash that we have treated with steroids and antibiotics. It's been six weeks and his skin is not cleared. The black spots are dry and sort of flakey. I kind of thought it was scarring from his rash at first but it isn't. Vet was not concerned and did not verbalize concern with yeast. She thought environmental allergy. She did not think it was food, but when he gets a mouthful of the other dog's food, he seems to be worse for a few days. I feed separately now.
Max uses stainless bowls which I wash daily, but he still eats 3xday. will wash every meal. we do use ss bowl for water, which I wash constanty because the other dog will not drink after Max! too much slime.
Raw feeding is out of the question! Vet suggested doing a full elimination diet and I am considering, but the food is about 10$ a pound and they must do it for 8-16 weeks then add other things once clear.
I give apples and bananas every day. I will eliminate them due to the high sugar/yeast thrive and see if that helps. I will also continue to research other food without sweet potato....but if they can't have grain or potato, and raw is out, what the hell do they eat? He is a flipping horse! he's just 8 months old and at last weigh in he was over 130 pounds. The last trip to clip nails proved unsuccessful getting him on the scale, even though two cute little girls tried to help me convince him he would not die if he stood there.
Witch hazel v vinegar... I'm a mommy for sure and I applied the witch hazel to a nasty burn on my arm from the oven. I had it covered for 3 days but the blister came off and it was pretty raw and tender. It did not hurt and in fact it feels and looks better. I then applied to him. He just laid there.
I'll do the acv today. Thanks!
