So if the black dogs were all gathered up and named a different breed would their be an objection? Are people wanting the black dog to just disappear or be a separate breed? It seems to me if all dog breeds start off as mixes and once they breed true to self they can begin the process of becoming a recognized breed right? So all the would have to do is come up with a name for their new breed?
So, I'm not a breeder, or even really dog savvy. Still, I think the point is introducing some Corgi genetics into the Doberman line, and trying to stabilize the mix, then making up a name, or saying this is a purebred Doberman, is unacceptable. Pardon the hyperbole, but I think the same objection is made with the introduction of black into the BB bloodlines. If mom isn't purebred BB, and Papa isn't purebread BB, the litter sure as heck won't be. I'd prefer to know what I'm buying, and not be suckered into the extra coin for a "rare" black BB. If I get BB x Std. Poodle, don't con me and claim the line is "pure."
This is awesome, now if we could only get this type of action on bandogges being passed off as pure apbts! Lol

The objection is, that the breed was complete. proper health, appearance, drive and temperament. Then someone added another breed into the standard without reason other than money in the pocket. Once a standard is set mixing the breed is not desired unless there is a specific reason to possibly correct a defect or health issue. This is what separates mutts from pure breed dogs.
I think the people that own, love and want to breed black mastiffs should indeed break away from the Boerboel and make their own breed. Although I know that S Africa will not allow something like Swart Boerboel or any name that contains the word boerboel. Now Swartboel would be a good choice. Swart is black in Dutch/afrikaans and Boel is dog.

If we are strictly talking about look the breed various from line to line like the cane corso.
I'm just curious. I don't have a bb ,but if I were to purchase one lack of acceptance would not deter me. I love Mid Atlantic's Onyx.
I don't really understand what the objection is. I know you say the are not a representation of what the original breeders were creating, but I'm pretty sure the same can be said about current day german shepherds and English bulldogs.
