We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Hi everyone!

Ok so just to start off, I already have an appointment with my vet wednesday morning at 8am, but in the mean time i need some peace of mind and/or advice. Our 8 weeks old cane corso puppy had his ears cropped the day before we picked him up from our breeder. His ears looked great and she sent us home with a packet of info on how to care for them along with an inflatable donut (as opposed to an uncomfortable cone). We have an 11month old cane corso from this same breeder and we had absolutely no issues with her cropped ears. Our new puppy however, somehow ripped several stitches from the bell of his right ear two days after bringing him home. It looks as if he split the inner ear tissue from the outer ear tissue, it is scabbing as it should be but it is very clearly a large open flesh wound that is pussing, luckily it isn't green but a clear/light yellow. It looks TERRIBLE though! We haven't been touching it, we are keeping our other dogs away from them as well as keeping the donut on him when we aren't home or watching him to make sure he doesn't scratch it more. We have also been spraying the ear and wound with vetricyn that was recommended by the breeder (that was a couple days ago so she hasn't seen how it has progressed now). I am being over paranoid and am so scared it is going to be an infection beyond repair of the tissue and have to be either removed or the ear surgically cut more! Is this possible or has it ever happened to anyone??? And has everything turned out ok??

Any additional support or info helps, and again WE ARE TAKING HIM TO THE VET FIRST THING WEDNESDAY MORNING.

Also, we have spraying the ear 3 to 4 times a day. This incident occurred about 3 days ago, today is the first day it has looked this bad. I'm not sure if it is a normal healing process (looks worse before it gets better) or if there is something much worse going on. Much of what i have read on other sites has been mixed responses to similar situations but i'm not sure if they have been this severe.

I'm no expert in ear cropping but that is definitely a bad infection. I'd get him to the vet sooner, if that is possible. I hope others will post a reply who have experience with ear cropping. Poor little guy...

I'm with Deb. I would get him in sooner if possible. At 8 weeks old an infection can turn into an emergency very quickly. Make sure he is staying hydrated.
