Hello, Melo the 13 wk old blk CC joining the pack

Hello everyone. I have always loved the large and extra large breeds, and now, I'm finally a proud mastiff mommy. I had a bullmastiff when I was in junior high and fell in love with giant dogs. When I finally got to a time period in my military lifestyle that would allow me to care for a pet, my boyfriend and I decided on a cane corso. Melo (Caramelo __insert witty second half here, haven't locked one down yet__) is 13 wks old, a bit over 30 lbs, and solid black except for a white slash on his chest and white goatee. I am very excited and nervous and everyday I find I have millions of new questions and concerns and doubts about my choices. I am hoping this forum, along with puppy training, and the actively involved veterinary service plan I've enrolled in, will help me.

It's only been a week (i keep reminding myself that, or i try to), but...
- Melo is mostly house broken, I trained him to ring a set of jingle bells attached to the doorknob when he wants to go out. There's only been one accident in the house since, hopefully a singular event.

- He is very vocal...much more than I had expected or hoped for. I'm not used to barkers...reallly reallly new to how to deal with it and very frustrated so far.

-He's very BITEY. I had hoped that being 12 weeks when I got him he'd have a bit more bite inhibition from his time around other puppies but NOPE. The "yelp and leave" method is working ok..not perfect...I mostly try to substitute my parts for other items. He can be so angsty though, biting me or furniture instead of a toy he loves just to get my attention.

- He's learned sit and down...but its a natural position for him along with laying down. This pup is not inclined to stand or run or jump or walk much.

Anyway, I know I have a lot to learn and a long way to go to my vision of my highly intelligent, trained, loyal, loving, doggy rolemodel Corso. Hope this community can help show me the way.
