Great dane x Shepherd

We may be adopting (okay, chances are pretty darn good) a 9-month-old dane/shepherd cross. How about those ears?!

He's 30" at the shoulder and 95 pounds, so he'll probably not get taller and fill out to about 120 or so, I'm thinking. The family keeps him in a crate constantly because they work day and night, and the babysitter doesn't like dogs so he doesn't get much attention. They need him to go somewhere where he'll be played with and get attention, and that will certainly be the case at our house. Or current DaneX has been very mopey and lonely since our BM passed in April - he has never been the only dog and he doesn't know what to do with himself, and doesn't really want to play with us, just snuggle.

We need a name, but not Dumbo or Radar. Wingnut, lol?

Ooooooh my GAWD!!! Look at that face!?!?!?! And I love those ears!!! This adoption had better be a done deal, because he needs to become a part of your family! Has this "little" man and your current dog met? If so, how did it go?

As for names...I've never been good at them. (I've always kept the names the shelter gave them.)

The ears just SLAY me, honestly. Holy Q-Tip, Batman!

We have not introduced the dogs, and that is really going to be the decision-maker. We're driving to meet him this afternoon and we'll get his vibe and see how it goes. I have always been a sucker for the upright ears, like some pit mixes have, and these are just cracking me up. I saw the ad and I could not get the dog out of my mind. Every time I look at the pics I laugh all over again.

I already know it is going to go fine - I don't know why I kid myself, but we'll see! Fingers crossed - he's hilarious.

Ya know that Cadbury Egg commercial where they tie the bunny ears to the lion? That's what he reminds me of. :p I love him!!!

Echo is a good one!

Yes, the Cadbury egg commercial - that's totally it - ROFL!

I'll measure but those ears must be 10" long. Like a wild hare.

Yeah, my husband and I talk big about how we're just going to meet him and not make any decision, blah blah blah, I'll be bringing a leash with me, you can bet on that.

However, in all honesty, if he and Sirius can't get along then we'll have to say goodbye. Knowing Sirius, however, I think he'll be very happy about the arrangement. This is a dog with very similar energy and drive as he has, so they ought to have a great time together.

The expression on his face is like, "I know, I know, the ears. Its always the ears with you people." Nobody laughs at the GSDs but I know we'll get chuckles everywhere we go, lol. Good thing he's a big boy because he'd for sure get beat up on the playground. :D

I saw that too - we'll have to enter him in after we get his measurements, lol. Poor fellow. I wonder if he keeps cool in the summer?

Oh my he is too cute! What is his current name?

His current name is Busa, after the fastest production motorcycle in the world. It is a perfectly cool name, but I can't relate much to the motorcycle tie-in.

I'm thinking of Oto. I'm in the medical field and that is the prefix meaning "ear."
