Which formula of blue buffalo are you feeding and did you do a transition from the food the breeder was feeding?

I am glad I asked because I was totally certain it was one of the best. I have been using Purina PRO Plan "Athletic", for EM probably you have to use "Robust".

So what's the best? Something I can find here in Italy as well...In my pet store I noticed Purina, Eukanuba and Trainer. I asked for Royal Canin too, but apparently they had an argument with the provider and cut off the negotiation

I have a friend in Spain who's able to get Acana so I would imagine you would be able to get it in Italy as well? Let me try to find out for you.

Puppy lamb & oatmeal
Well it could be two things if the puppy has been dewormed already and vaccinated. 1) Not doing a transition from the breeder's food to the blue buffalo shocked the digestive system. The best way to fix this would be to take the puppy off the kibble and do a bland diet of boiled white rice and boiled hamburg or boiled white rice and boiled chicken for about a week. At that point you can start a slow transition onto kibble by doing 75% of the bland, 25% of the kibble for 3-5 days, then 50% bland, 50% kibble for 3-5 days and then 25% bland, 75% kibble for 3-5 days before going entirely to kibble. Another problem could be that the pup has issues with grains. Honestly that particular formula of blue buffalo is a little high in calcium and phosphorus for a growing giant pup. Mastiffs don't need puppy food, and if you want to stay with Blue Buffalo I would do the Blue Buffalo Wilderness Duck or Salmon.

Trinity's been on Purina Pro Plan, Science Diet, Iams- limited (poor) options due to location. Drove further to try Chicken Soup For the Dog Lovers Soul... she kept being picky. Always needing some wet food or veggies added to get to her to eat her kibble and even then sometimes she would refuse which would make her vomit acid from having an empty stomach. Eventually said screw it and tried Acana regionals when I saw a local pet shop finally started bringing in quality food, although much steeper in price ($65-$85 a bag) but if she ate? Worth it. First up, Wild Prairie and still picky. Grasslands... picky. Ranchlands? WIN. She loves that stuff. She still gets fresh veggies while preparing my dinner and wet food once in a while but she doesn't need extra motivation to eat her kibble anymore. It made me stupid happy. :D

Acana Pacifica is great. There's no one particular food that's best. Earthborn Holistics Great Plains feast, coastal catch or meadow feast; orijen 6 fish, blue buffalo wilderness duck or salon are all good foods.

There's a food available in some of the pet stores called "I and Love and You". Yes, that is the name. A dog nutritionist said it is very similar to Acana.

From what I've seen of Blue Buffalo, I'm not a fan. I looked up one formula and the 2nd ingredient is "chicken meal".
Chicken meal? I know what "chicken" or "chicken meat" is. What exactly is chicken meal? Would you eat that? I wouldn't. I mean, chicken feet? Sure. Nice with sweet and sour sauce. Chicken "meal"? Are you sure that's food?

Just because a food has lots of "meat" in it doesn't mean it's healthy. For a while it was legal to sell hamburger meat made from fecal-contaminated cow parts processed in ammonia. (Don't eat at fast food restaurants. Ever.) This was for human consumption. Imagine what goes into dog food. There are legal requirements for how food can be described on labels. If a manufacturer can't even use the word "meat" - it's not.

Meal is actually a concentrate forumla of the meat, after the water has been removed. Seeing it as one of the first couple if not the first ingredient is usually better than seeing the actual meat (especially if it is followed by a grain like corn or something similar) as one the moisture is removed from the meat you can actually end up with less protein from the meat than grains in a food.
