Ear cropping care!

I would just follow the vets instructions! I haven't had a dog with cropped ears in years so I can't remember exactly what they say.

I cleaned Stellas ears with rubbing alcohol and then we put a little ointment on it. You dont want the ears too wet or too dry.

Just try to keep the dirt down, if they get too dirty just some anti-baterial hand soap and a little water to gently clean the area up but I wouldn't fuss with them a lot until the stitches come out and the vet says they are healed and good to go.

Did they crop the conventional way or with laser? I am picking up my pup Jan 20th and I am having a hard time finding someone good in my area that does laser, or conventional for that matter. @ Blackshadow, any luck with Zoe? Im still searching :) Thanks and sorry to hijack

Keep them dry!!! Easy with the ointment because its sticky and things could actually get on the ears. I never used the cone because it rips off the scabs and makes the ears worse.

Crap Sorry I completely forgot to ask her when we talked over Christmas! I will see if I can find out.

If you are not putting on a cone then only put a little tiny bit of ointment. We had to use the cone because Stella would scratch the heck out of her ears if we didnt. and we only put the ointment on the edge of the ear, not all over it. But ointment is not 100% needed, out vet just told us to put a little on there.

I just use antibacterial hand soap at night and a little antibacterial ointment. The Benedryl has been a life saver for when he starts itching. We didn't use the cone either.

I gave my boy a bath today his stitches come out on wed. I was careful but he seemed to like having them cleaned and massaged. His stopped hurting after about four days.
