Crickett passed her Herding Instinct Test

So my breeder and I signed Crickett and a few of her other dogs to take a herding instinct test. Crickett did much better than I thought. It took her a few minutes to figure out what was going on, but the woman performing the test was great. It was a cool experience to participate in, and she had fun. It was through a local German Sheperd Club and they were impressed that 3 out of the 4 Corsos passed.
I also started her on Coursing last weekend....once she got the hang of it she LOVED it! We will continue with the coursing and hopefully she can earn some titles. Proud of my girl :)

Wow! I bet you are thrilled. It is so wonderful that you are giving Crickett so many experiences! She is a lucky girl.

Congrats that is awesome!! I wish we could do Lure here in Canada :( We can go to practices but not actually compete or trial... sight hounds only :( Would love to see pictures

Cody, its not the same as competing, but theres a company that sells lure coursing equipment for not to horribly expensive. I don't have the link handy, but I think its Wicked Coursing or something similer. I plan to set up my own for Arty.

Thanks everyone. I wish I had pictures....they were running an hour early and as soon I got there I was up. So Krissy (my breeder) wasn't there yet with the camera :(
We are doing coursing again in September and I will get some shots then. She loves the coursing and she is so fast. I'm going for her CA then CAA.
It's funny....when I got to the farm all the people their were mostly German Sheperd owners. They were shocked Corso's were participating. They were really nice and Crickett broke their "sterotype" of the breed...she is very social and sweet. They had so many questions for us, it was nice to see people that were really interested in this breed.

That's awesome!! Good girl Cricket! I love when people who are die hard 1 breed fans show interest & ask questions about other breeds instead of doing the whole my dog is better than yours.

Here's teh company link for anyone interested in a home setup: Lure Coursing - We Make the Best Equipment Anywhere!

The basic single run systems (where you have to reset the lure after each run) are $150-$250 and are good for speeds 35-40mph. After we get our larger fence in we're getting one to run Arty around (and Apollo if he'll do it).

Very cool. Gotta love breaking the stereotypes!

Yes we have been looking into getting one :) As well as going to the practices the greyhound club has here, we have been invited to those.
