Cane Corso Breeder Recommendations in NY/NJ/PA/CT area?

Greetings,

I am new here and I'm looking to purchase my very first Cane Corso. I have been in love w/ these dogs since 2001 and now me and my family would like to purchase one.

I have researched and contacted several breeders in the Tri-State area but could someone recommend breeders that they have either bought from or know that they are reputable.

I am basically looking for a pet dog that is a female, that is great w/ young children and a home protector.

Me and my wife have four children ages 7, 5, 3, and 2. We own our home on almost 2 acres and a portion is fenced in.

Any recommendations and success stories would be greatly appreciated. And of course, breeders to stay clear of.

Thank you.

I have dogs from Italica in NY, and met dogs from Liberty Cane Corso in NY. Used and loved the dogs from Firehorse and hope to meet some of the dogs at Pride and Joyz Cane corso in PA

Rivale is a great kennel but do tend to focus a lot on the working aspect and the drives that go with them which most pet homes are not looking for.

I agree with that I went to meet them to nice dogs . I don't think their for a first time CC owner looking for a family pet

I suggest making sure you ask to see the official health scores (PENNHIP or OFA) on the parents of the dogs you are looking at ;) Some times breeders are not always upfront and many do not do any testing any more... There is also Appalachian in PA and they have some nice dogs. There is also a Cane Corso breeder referral page on FB that if you can search different breeders on, may be useful :)

Thanks everyone for all the info so far.

Has anyone had any dealings w/ Borealis Cane Corso in NY? Their prices are about $1200-1500 for puppies.

I echo Corey's suggestion - would recommend any of the 3 kennels he listed - Italica, Firehorse or Liberty. Rivale has awesome working dogs, not for first time pet owners. Good luck in your search!

What is the going price for a Cane Corso as a family pet? Some prices are very expensive. I was looking in the $1500 price range. Thanks.

Thanks.

Yes, I emailed several and a few contacted me back with prices and info. All were very helpful. The $1200 quote I received was from Borealis in upstate NY but several people here on another thread didn't not think highly of them. I liked Liberty, they were very friendly and are close by.

My friend who bought a male from italica said he was going to breed his male, possibly with Italica. Not sure exactly but I'll look into his.
