Good new, bad news!

A rescue now has her. Which if they have the same silly rules as most it is unlikely that we would be approved. Cane is intact and a house inspection is out of the question. We feed raw, believe in minimal vax, and we have cats.

I was able to speak to the person that has the pup, she was on her way to the vet with her. She said they would get some weight on her and if she has heartworms they would try to raise money to take care of that. I told her that I was willing to take the dog(kasmet) today. I would be responsible for all vet bills and nurse her back to health myself. SO, they may waive some of the rules. Who knows.

Lots of breeds will throw brindle, includen Golden Retriever, so her color doesn't mean anything really.

I'm on my phone and can't really look at the pic, but good luck AB!

Thanks everyone! I didn't even realize she was a brindle. Cane and Ziva are brindles. Just another sign that she belongs to our family.

I see Dane in her as well. Her face reminds me of my brothers Dane when she was a puppy. Could be where the white face is coming from. His Dane is White and Black. I hope your still able to get her. She looks like a sweet puppy, poor girl!

Our last dog was a Dane/Lab/X... I can see some similarities in the shape of the head and nose - and color markings.
Personally, I don't see pit... skull is too thin.
Some more photos on the FB OP's page... you can see some Dane in her toes/feet... She's going to be one pretty girl when she gets some meat on those bones!!

She looks very sweet.
I sure you you get her, AB!!

I'm home and can finally look at the pictures.....I'm not even going to guess at this point. She's SO skinny, it throws off all guesses because god only knows what she'd have looked like with proper nutrition all along!

We are getting her. I'm picking her up tomorrow night. :)

Okay, first question. She has been to the vet, she has hook and roundworms, which are contagious. How do I keep my other dogs safe? Any clue how long it will take to clear the worms?

I plan on keeping her in a separate room for a few days. Would ya'll let the other dogs see her in the crate?

One other thing she is so weak that the people who have her for tonight think that she will have to be carried outside to go potty. We are going to start her on raw chicken as soon as she gets here. Do you think we should give home some pedialyte?

CONGRATS AB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I would keep it low key for a few days as she is probably going to be very scared and nervous as it is. Is she having diarrhea?

The biggest factor with the worms will be her poop. You'll need to be extra OCD about picking up after her till you're sure she's clean. If you have DE sprinkling some on the spot after you pick up her poop might not be a bad idea, as well as looking at giving some to your other dogs to prevent them from picking up the worms. Assuming they give her a wormer its usualy a week, but I'd have her re-checked to be sure.

Pedialyte might not be a bad idea.

Excellent ideas! I will carry the DE with me.

They just posted new pictures of her getting a bath. She is a little sack of bones. I think she is less than 50 pounds and the vet guessed she was around a year old. So, she won't be as big as we thought which is good.

I'd maybe let the dogs get a wiff from a far, maybe start from keeping them on one side of the door in the closed room she will be in. Did they heartworm test her?

RM, I pretty sure that is what we did with Ziva. It's a shame I can't really remember how we did it. Old age sucks!

Thank you Franklin's mom.

What about using a towel/blanket to get her scent and then presenting it to Ziva and Cane? And vice versa maybe you can put one with the new girl that has Ziva and Canes scent on it

Yes, she was heartworm neg.

That's great news. Heartworm treatment takes such a toll on their body & she doesn't need any extra stress. I wonder if her worm infestation is making her anemic. The pedalite should help with that. I can't wait for you guys to get her & show her the love she deserves. You & Debra are awesome
