Full blooded American Pit 165 lbs???

Do they really get that big? Had a guy just tell me that he had one and that the dogs dad was a champion and weighed in over 200 pounds.....

I was pretty sure there was no way but I just don't know a whole lot about them. This guy was delivering some appliances to the house and we told him we had to put our dogs up. " I'm not afraid of big dogs" Well, he is 170 lbs, " I have 165 lbs Pit". I asked if he was full blooded, "yep, and his dad was over 200 lbs and was a champion".

At this point I didn't even mention that Cane was a Fila. I'm sure that his Pit has already stopped 3 burglars and drug his 8 kids out of a burning house. :lolbangtable:

...average weight is 35-65 lbs. I find it hard to believe that 200+ would = a champion. People are idiots.

It never fails when I'm out with Lincoln and I tell someone he's 140 lbs or so that they either had/have or know someone who had/has a (insert breed) that was (insert ridiculous weight for breed) that wasn't fat at all.

270+ lb Neos (that one may be alright)
180+ lb German Shepards
250+ lb Dane
200+ lb Rottweiler
150+ lb Lab

I've always just smiled and been like wow. But now that I know more about the breeds and average weights, I may start calling them on it.

There are times that I wish I didn't have a conscience. It would have been so much fun to bring Cane out. I sure am glad I didn't have these kind of dogs in my twenties! LOL

APBT's can be anywhere from 30 - 80 pounds by the normal standard. I had an incredibly big boy (He was all muscle) and he was 105 pounds. Biggest boy in his litter. 165? 200? No way!

will this person has a couple of sites a few of his dog s hit 160-170 but but not any but your I haven't heard of any pit hitting over 175lbs lol
