I have a friend who is working her EM, She is a good dog and being slow in learning Schutzhund
Can the dog do the job yes, if someone is willing to put the time to get the big guys to do this. Most EMs just dont have that want or desire to do this type of work now a days. Now!! if you were asking me this lets say 20 yrs ago I would be speaking a bit different.
PSA is a hard sport, I know I went to one last year and failed with my dogs .. complete handler mess up and I went with no training for the sport as we do not have a club here but with that Ill be back knowing what I have to do.
Again could someone with the breed attempt it Yes, could they pass it well it would depend how much work they put into this pretty docile breed.
Regarding AmBully's .. you can show me all the photos you want .. I have seen, trained, and watched that breed just be something I do not care for. You do not see them in Protection trials .. you see folks post photos of them biting a sleeve but you can post a dog doing that doesnt mean a true working dog. (saying this for ALL BREEDS)
I dont care for the out of function body style, or deformity. Again JMO
We all love our breeds we own, or desire to own... I appreciate a good working dog / breed.
I am a big Presa Fan and it shows, as I work the hell out of my own dogs and prove them to the fullest. Now do I like the show style Presa NO, Do I like what is being called the Dogo Canario (short, stocky and out of standards body) NO.. Neither one of these types of dogs are good working dogs. Now there are folks that call anything that isnt out of Irema Curto lines Presa a DC. Are they correct NO b/c there are some wonderful working dog that have no IC in them. I have one in my home they call a DC and he is one of the most titled Presa Canarios in the country not to mention he has titles NO one has ever gone for in the WORLD. Does he prove the name Presa YES he does. I would stand behind that to any Presa / DC owner!!
I am particle to Malinois b/c of there working ability, man to watch these dogs work is like watching a fantasy come to life. The stamina, drive, focus, desire, ability I can go on and on, but I am not a fan of the other Belgian Shepherds (ie: Tervuren, Laekenois, or Groenedael) why b/c they just are not as stable as the Malinois. (I own Malinois)
I think for what you are thinking of getting into you would be better off with a Presa, CC, Dogo or American Bulldog (I would add Beorbel but they are not recognized by AKC or UKC so that limits you in what you can do with your dog) Now out of the dogs I just mentioned the ONLY one that is fully recognized by AKC is your CC .. Us Presa owners / breeders / handlers are fighting to keep Presas out of AKC.
Hope I made my personal self explainable
