my french has had an ongoing issue with his skin hes 10 months, his skin is flakey and he stinks more often between baths. i have changed his food to grain free and chicken free ive tried using fish oils ive taken him to the vet and hes been put on medication with shampoo but none of this has worked. as i said hes flakey and stinks and sometimes it looks like he has pimples behind his ears in his paws and stomach and they turn scaby. has anyone had this problem or is it a a thing he will grow out of

Could it be yeast? What's the main protein in the food he's on now? He may be allergic to that or something else in the food.

How much fish oil are you giving?

Mine get fish oil every day but were flakely, I was only giving each 1 tab. - in talking to my friend whose fed raw for yrs told me how much I should be giving them, turns out I wasnt giving enough fish oil so bumped them up & they are looking better.

Could be a yeast imbalance caused by the antibiotic. Does he smell like corn chips? How about his ears? Smelly and or gunky?

even though it has been months since the antibiotic, it could have been the trigger that started the yeast imbalance. Any sugars or starches will continue to feed the yeast. We fought this for years, spending a fortune at the vets, and until we went TOTALLY raw nothing helped long term, including Pyoben.

Try a 160 pound gobberhead and you have to do it twice a day. YUK

Well you've come to the right place to learn about raw

There are quite a few of us who feed raw - there are a lot of threads in here & feel free to ask away ... :D

Ours started out as puppy acne. Being what I thought was a good mommy, we ran to the vet every time he farted just to make sure he was okay. Unfortunately; it just kept getting worse. After a ton of research we figured out that he had a yeast imbalance, probably in conjunction with genetic predisposition to bad skin. Please proceed with caution with antibiotics.

Raw is very scary at first but is almost as easy as kibble once you get the hang of it. There are some threads on here about raw feeding and there are a few of us who will always try to answer questions.
