I have my doubts that he's really 7 weeks old, and not just because of his size. Did the Vet say anything about that? If he really is 7 weeks, the condition he's in really is abuse, possibly unknowing, but still.....

He's a cutie though! Hope he pulls through for you!

Wow. What a belly!

I would have at least sent the BYB a note letting her know that he has hookworm and coccidia, and she needs to check ALL her dogs... that's not a nice worm!!

Poor baby.
He truly hit the jackpot getting to come home with you!

20141016_170832.jpg20141016_152153.jpg Someone is perking up a little half way through his blood transfusion, he started to look a little worse today. Tailgate, one of our vet techs dog was nice and donated some blood.

So is this like a one off blood transfusion ? I would say the poor little guy would probably terribly sick right now and only days away from dying if you didn't have a heart of gold

I did let her know as soon as I knew yesterday, Yeah that edema on top of the extended belly looks pretty bad.

Well, he had vacc 10 days ago so that put him at 7 weeks as she said, do not think she would have spent the money to vacc before 6 weeks and even though my vet kind of said her vet is "a whack" hopefully they don't vacc pups under 6 weeks.

ooooh he is sooo tiny--poor lil guy!!! He could be that tiny for 7wks since he was so malnurished. You're his Guardian Angel!

Is Tailgate the other dog in the pic?--He should be given a big fat steak!
How do they determine if blood is compatible--do they blood type the same as with humans or is it different with dogs?

How's your lil boy doing?

Spontaneous antibodies against the different blood types like we have are pretty rare in dogs, so usually you're good to do a first transfusion without doing any blood typing. But they are much more likely to form those antibodies after receiving a blood transfusion, so blood typing would then need to be done prior to any future transfusions.
