Presa pup on Craigslist

Not all breeders rehome but yes, it is a business to a point and a passion to another. My husband is a sculptor, it is a business and a passion. I am a writer, again business and a passion. I am lucky to be able to do something I love for a profit. Breeders often rehome because they want to continue on their line but know that keeping 80 dogs really isn't in the best interest of anyone, including the dogs. There have been plenty of breeders who have become animal hoarders and kept every single breeding dog they ever owned, the end result has not been pretty. As someone who is moving towards owning a kennel, I can tell you Daisy is here to stay, the next two or three dogs will probably be here to stay as well but there will come a time when I need to make a decision on whether I rehome a dog or keep it and stop advancing the line I am building and I know it will be the right decision when that time comes.

The only way I could get into breeding was under the agreement that I wouldn't hoard. My husband was really worried about that with me.

I have often talked about fostering kids and we really are all for it. I have the perfect situation as I am home all the time working but my husband keeps saying no because I would be filing adoption papers every time a new child is placed with me...and every child needs their own pet...and...and...and. Would probably need a 30 bedroom house for all the kids and animals. LOL.

Lmao, I know a breeder with 20ish dogs because she will breed a litter every 3 years and keep more then 1/2 of the puppies lol. I call her a dog hoarder all the time! And I am talking Corso not little dogs!

I couldn't breed. I'd never be able to give up the pups!

LOL. I think I would be fine with the puppies, my husband will be the one not wanting to give a puppy up. He is already making plans to get his big boy and he is being very picky on where he is getting him. Our plan is to stay very small, produce one litter when we want to advance the line, it won't be for profit. That is why I am torn. Do I take a male from her litter or do I purchase an outside line and combine the lines with one of Daisy's pups? This way I can take a nice trait from a different male, hopefully get it in a female through breeding him with Daisy and then breed the female to a second male that I make my foundation male. Long range plans but I am already thinking of the traits I want to produce and the best dogs to get there. LOL.

So respect this. I love hearing breeders talk the next 3 steps down the line! What they want to create with their line :)
Too many breeders just try to repeat what others are doing and don't even know there is a box to think outside of

DD i know what bybs do to trick people, but for you to think that an operation like firehorse doesnt see ANY profit--I dont believe it for a second. Sorry Im sure you havent hacked into their bank accounts either. Im also getting a headache trying to explain this to you. Other people in this thread have stated that people do make some money breeding dogs correct? The profit margins might not be up to par for you--you might be very succesful-- im just a fireman in new york who doesnt make much money so i think making ANY amount of money doing something you love is worth it.

With the creation of another thread directly dealing with breeders, please feel free to take it up the discussion there.

As for that other thread, I will now commence to hijack it with a discussion on monster trucks and speedos. :razzberry:

In my humble opinion anyone who re homes a dog after six years of loving it to be able to breed more dogs is definately making a business decision. That cant be what is best for the dog. We are worried about this presa being shuffled around but turn a blind eye to giving away a dog after 6 years of love it has given you just to produce more dogs? I definately wouldnt have the heart to do that to any animal--let alone a dog.

If Cody wants the content, she can snag it. I don't want to shove pages of of content into her fresh, new thread. :) I'm just going to close this one for now.

Geisthexe was able to get into contact with the breeder. Apparently the guy is going to keep the dog now. I know his ad was removed from Craigslist. We'll see, I'll keep looking around.

Hmmm keep an eye out AKBull, my guess will be the pup goes back up for sale :(
If that is the case you should probably speak with the breeder and go get him :p
As for monster trucks and speedos... Only if they ate to be rehomed!

AK Bull, is gonna watch for me to see about the post returning. Soon as AK Bull sees something I will be once again calling the breeder, she will take it from there.
Lets just keep our thoughts that the dog either way ends in a great home

He doesn't give a sh.. who buys his Presa and that's why it's immoral Jerms. An unstable Presa from lack of attention, etc. isn't like an unstable golden retriever that gets ignored. Admirable Presa breeders have extensive contracts to make sure their dogs aren't going to the wrong type of people.

I hope he decides to rehome the puppy for the simple fact that I don't think he is that committed to him. Samson had to be trained completely at 10 months because the owner kept going back and forth about keeping him. Now he is being rehomed but he has a lot of issues that are being worked out. Neglecting the training and socialization of a Presa (if he is doing that) while he hums and haws about rehoming him could be extremely serious. Too bad you can't bring him home AK. Hopefully his breeder will email him and find out what the heck is going on.
