Thank you, all!! Since one of the symptoms are exessive thirst, I am interested to know how much water is "normal" for an 8 month old EM to drink. She has always been drinking a lot of water even as an 8 week old puppy. Right now she consumes around 1 gallon of water per day (give or take a few cups) and if she does not have water available at all times she gets a really dry mouth.

We are waiting on the official test results to come back from Texas A&M. They said they should be done towards the middle to the end of this week. We started the antibiotics last Friday hoping it is just a kidney infection. It is hard not to read all the bad things involved with kidney problems, damn you Al Gore (internet);)

I don't suppose it's just stones? She's young, but the excessive thirst and such sounds like kidney stones. If that's the case it could turn bad but is pretty easily dealt with. Hoping it's something minor like that ...

We had a follow up appointment yesterday to do another urine culture and internal organ function screening. The internal organ function test did not look good, so we are going for an ultrasound of her kidneys on Monday. I just have a bad feeling........she is experiencing some lethargy, but that might also be a mastiff trait, but I have to drag her out the door. Once she is out she will play for a while, but if it was up to her, she would sleep. She also has a decreased appetite, even though she is still eating, she will leave food at every meal. Just hoping that I am just paranoid and an over-concerned mastiff-mommy:pray:

I really hope Sadie is ok and if there is something wrong, it is quickly and easily fixed. Lots of positive healing vibes your way. Hang in there!

I am sending positive thoughts and wishes to you and Sadie. I read somewhere that white fish have a benificial effect on dog kidney problems, maybe something to look into?

I'm so sorry are going through this. You and your puppy will be in our thoughts. Hopefully you get good news on Monday. In the mean you could try Milk Thistle. It helps improve liver function and helps to protect the livet.

Isn't milk thistle for liver function? Does it have kidney benefits too? If so I'm getting some just for me!
