  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

OMG! She is worse off then we thought. Please help!

I'll post more about her later. She is nothing but skin and bones.

Any suggestions on how to feed her. She is only 24 pounds. We have boiled chicken and rice. She loves it but I'm afraid to give her too much too fast. How often to feed her and how much each time? We also have pedialyte can she have all of that she wants or should we limit that too.

She is precious. I will post pics in the morning. I will check this thread through out the night. So please post if you have any suggestions. I'm not sure she will make it but I will do everything I can.

The pictures don't even come close to showing how bad off she is. She is running a fever but the vet, yesterday didn't feel she has to be hospitalized. She is up and moving. The vet did send home some meds. We will start that with her next meal.

Sorry AB, I don't have any suggestions either. I do hope for the best though and I really hope to read some good news tomorrow.

Thoughts with you guys!

Feed often with small amounts. You're doing the best you can and hopefully that's enough but even if it isn't she's in a home where people care, she's warm and fed, which is more than she had before.

Tammy, thank you so much!

To everyone, ya'll are the best. I'm dead on my feet so I'm going to try and get a couple of hours of sleep. We have the alarm set to go off every two hours. I'm going to feed her very small meals. Pretty much what the articles say. I was pretty sure that was the direction to go in. That is what we did for Ziva but this girl is so much smaller and looks worse than what Ziva did. I didn't get Ziva until she was past the critical stage. I'm afraid this pup is in a very precarious state.

Thank you for keeping her in your thoughts she needs it.

SMALL amounts every 4-6 hours. Like, 1/2cup or less!

Not sure on the pedialyte, but at least for the first day going slow and carefull on that might not be a bad idea either :/ checking online it says to use the dose for her that you'd give a human of her weight, and that you CAN mix it with water or other non-sugar/sweet liquids (so the broth from cooking the meat, after skimming the fat, could potentially work), I'd just go slowly at first so you don't over whelm her system.

I once fostered a boy that should have been 80lbs but was only 30. I made sure he ate a very small amount every 4 hours or so, nothing too rich because his system just couldn't handle it. I mixed unflavored pedialyte with water and broth with the fat skimmed for him. A lot of it was trial and error to see how much he could handle. Make sure you take pictures. It was the only way that I could actually see that he was looking better - to put the pics side by side. Wishing you all the best. I think she's finally had a stroke of luck in her life - you.

This makes me so sad, yet, so happy that she found her way to you guys. Like others have said small meals every 4-6 hours. She is one lucky girl, that is for sure. Keep us posted......:(

She is lucky to have found you! If anyone can fix her up, you can. Frequent small meals and take lots of photos. Weigh her often if you can. I had a starvation case at work, worst I had ever seen. It was touch and go for awhile but he pulled through with lots of TLC. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers!

I don't have anything to add AB but you can do this! You have filas, this is a cake walk ;), just slow and steady! She looks bad but I suspect is in a much better state of mind now and she obviously has a fighting spirit to have made it this far. She will take a while to look great, but each day she gets a little stronger!

All I can say is Wow!. I believe things happens for reasons and she is right where she is supposed to be, with you! Once the worms are dead and gone her body can start to absorb some nutrients and she knows she is safe/loved I'm sure she slow and easy will bounce back. She is a lucky girl who found you!

I sit here with my pretty baby wondering how anyone could abuse such a wonderful creature. You look in a dog's eyes and you can see the person you hope you'll become...You hope that you'll be the hero they think you are. It's a great responsibility and a great joy. Not everyone is up to the task, not everyone should have a dog. And then there are those that rise to the occasion, exceed all expectations, become a dog's saving grace. I think such people are beloved of God and there is a special place reserved for them in heaven. Blessings upon you and yours Angelbears. I am praying for your little one.
