thanks ! no the size of the CAO (central asian ovcharka or shepherd or alabai) is minimum 120-130 lbs for males...there is no maximum standard but 150-170 is already a good size around 200 is huge. females are much smaller, sexual dimorphism is very noticeable females from 100 to 140 lbs are preferred, big females are not appreciated in shows.I thought they were around Cane Corso size ~ 115 ish lbs full grown? In any case, they look amazing!
just to give you an idea Kazimir was 100 lbs at 5 months, he is now 9 months and i believe over 150 lbs i did not weigh him for a long time... now erman is 5 months male and he is 92 lbs , Kira the tigress is 5 months and 82 lbs and taisha she is also 5 months and 71 lbs she is thinner boned than Kira but same height if not slightly taller.thanks ! no the size of the CAO (central asian ovcharka or shepherd or alabai) is minimum 120-130 lbs for males...there is no maximum standard but 150-170 is already a good size around 200 is huge. females are much smaller, sexual dimorphism is very noticeable females from 100 to 140 lbs are preferred, big females are not appreciated in shows.
not really these are very old breeds no mix in them, very tough and strong...no bloating issues at all, they are selected for hard work and walking long distances at a very young age. HD is there but much less than other breeds. unlike mastiffs they need lots of exercise at a very young age. through thousands of years the physically weak or with problems, the timid and unnecessarily overly aggressive dogs were not bred leading to dogs with very stable character and good health..however there were some lines used for dog fighting which was a folkloric event at first and for exhibition that turned out to be serious money making dog fighting especially in Turkmenistan where the origins of the CAO are. With such huge growth so quickly, is there any issues with joints or anything?I know other mastiffs, and like saint bernards, growing that quickly they usually end up with hip problems n what not?
yes a lot the more the better. definitely not a house dog. although they have lots of space to roam i walk Kazi and Nita 2 hours a day at least. they are tough dog with virtually nothing to worry about: snow, rain , cold, grooming ...none of that is a problem..i never bathed my dogs... the only hard work with them is walking and exercising , they need a lot of that and of course consistent obedience training without any use of violence.I love these dogs. They look like they need a lot of space.
the white one is Nita she is a gorgeous typical CAO female, Kazimir is the white and blight brown spots...they are very sweet and loving you can hardly resist kissing them. thanks... the tiger is Kira she is wonderful an extremely fast learner. she will go in june to moscow for the world dog show ..and she will win!, i wanted to take Nita but she might have her first period at that time ill see, as for Kazimir i will wait until he is older to enter a show, Kazimir's father has around 30 titles such as Vice world champion, multichampion of ukraine and Russia etc....Is that Kazimir in pics #2 and #3? He looks like a Teddy Bear! So Cute!!!I can see the desire to be near these beautiful dogs. Looks like you have your hands full!Congratulations on getting the tiger. That's a BEAUTIFUL coat! WOW!
