Seizures can be caused by pain as well as toxins, thyroid issues and other medical problems outside of the neurological system. Your puppy could have easily injured it's back playing leading to the limp, severe pain and even a seizure. The GI issues could be pain or stress related as well. I'm a big believer in second and third opinions if you don't think the vet is being very detailed in assessing the issues. If another seizure happens, dim the lights, mute any sounds, limited even physical contact during and after the actual seizure. The brain has to.reset itself rather like a computer rebooting. If it is.plain. epilepsy, meds.decrease not only the severity of.the seizure but the after effects as well.

Oh, Robin! I'm so sorry to hear this. I really have no experience with seizures but a friend that had a dog that had seizures who got pretty aggressive kept a few baby gates around and would put the baby gate between themselves and the dog for the time of the seizure.

As for the limping, Ruger did that quite a bit at that very young age and it was growing pains. He was growing so fast even though I did everything I could to make him a slow grower and he would limp a bit on one leg for a couple weeks then a different for a couple weeks. After many expensive XRays my vet finally convinced me that he was ok.

I'm praying for the sweet boy and for you and Debra of course.

These new symptoms are scary and could very well bet because of the seizure so hopefully if you get the "sick" resolved there won't be any other seizures.

I'm here if you need anything. I'm sure you already have it but just in case 850-532-5701. Call me if you need anything at all or just need to talk.

Please update as soon as you know something.

Just catching up to this, and the worry you must be feeling about little Justice! I also have no experience regarding seizures, but I agree about looking into every corner of this issue...meaning- maybe it's connected to something else, and not a true condition presenting itself.

Did he recently have a bunch of vaccines? Or come into contact with an odd toxic substance? I know you are super careful, but I'm just putting stuff out there...

I am hoping for the very best outcome of all of this--- you deserve a happy, healthy puppy, sweet lady...

First, thank you everyone, I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

It doesn't look good for Justice. It is not parvo. I did insist on an X-ray, she didn't see anything and said it actually looked good. She believes he is too young for epilepsy which leaves us with bacterial infection of the brain or spine which doesn't always show up in blood work because it is contained. It could be a tumor or it could be a toxin. I guess a toxin will be our best option, if it doesn't kill him in the next few hours. I'm sorry I'm just very lost right now.

We have a referral to Texas A&M. Unfortunately, their business office is closed because of the holiday. I have to wait until in the morning to make an appointment. I will of course be on the phone first thing with them and any neurologist I can find in our area. I had my hopes up for parvo, I knew I could get him through that.

I spent 6 years trying to keep Cane alive. I'm so broken. If I don't thank someone or come off as rude I'm sorry it is not on purpose. Keep Justice in your thoughts please.

We do feel it Boxergirl. That is why I run to this forum. When there is a need this forum rocks. When in crisis I need people to throw ideas out, tell their story or just let me know that I'm not alone. The core group of people here have one thing in common. We all love our dogs and have compassion for others that are struggling with theirs. Thank you!

I still haven't learned how to post pictures but I really would like everyone to see what a beautiful boy Justice is. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/...073741834.100001008011982&type=1&l=81b196710b
Oh, he's perfect! I am just so sorry to hear about this. I can't even imagine being in such an awful situation with a baby. Veterinary neurologists are notoriously difficult to get an appointment with (always booked up, with emergencies on top of that), but crossing my fingers here that you get your beautiful boy seen ASAP tomorrow! My first thoughts with a puppy that seizures is hypoglycemia (usually very small breeds, and typically younger than Justice), a portosystemic shunt (symptoms would be worse just after eating, usually bloodwork will be abnormal, can test bile acids - not sure if that was included in his bloodwork), hydrocephalus or other congenital abnormality (again, usually tiny breed puppies), infectious causes (distemper, toxo, neospora - can test with titers), and possibly toxic that you mentioned previously. I've never seen idiopathic epilepsy come up that early. No matter what, a neurologist should be able to get you an answer. Sending tons of good thoughts and vibes from me and my pack for you and Justice!

Thank you SJ. I truly appreciate the break down you gave us. I am really scared of hydrocephalus. Okay, I'm scared of all of it. Texas A&M has a 24 hour clinic. I was reading that they will take patients through their 24 hour emergency clinic without referral( we have one) all they say is it should be an emergency. Do you think we should just show up there tonight or wait and go through the proper channels. Believe it or not I don't like breaking the rules but then again I can't let Justice die without trying everything I can. He has been asleep in his crate for 4 hours. I'm afraid to wake him but I'm really getting worried. I'm rambling, I'm sorry.

If it were me, I'd go into the emergency vet. You don't know what you are dealing with so you don't know how much time is too much time to wait. I think you will feel better sitting at the emergency vet than if you stay at home and stare at him, worry and hope he will be on tomorrow.

I wish there was something I could do to make this easier for you. If I can help in anyway just say the word.

I never implied that we didn't have the funds. I did grimace a little when she said the MRI would be about 2,000 but hell I think Warren Buffet would too. She had causally mentioned going to A&M but also said we could wait and see if he had another one. I agreed with the wait and see at the first appointment this morning. That is what we did with the other 3 dogs that had seizures. They were all over around 3 when they had their first one. A wait and see is what I expected her to say. When we returned this afternoon I realized that this was different and pushed for the referral but she still didn't state it was an emergency.
