How to handle reputation

To me the risk of having a 100 + lb fear biter outweighs the risk of parvo.
With the shots your pup has at that age you should be okay to take him places, although as Mary said I would carry him in high dog traffic areas.
Take him everywhere you can, hang out in parking lots in front of Walmart, any and every where you can. High value treats to let people touch him.
I am sorry, I do not want to scare you but a pup that is snapping at people at 8 weeks can become a huge liability if you do not stop this behavior. Do you correct when he snaps? Like a momma fear of god correction?

One from the breeder at 6weeks and one at 8 weks from the new vet. AND the 2nd one is a 7 in 1 which is making me cringe.....
could he get adverse side effects from this? He has been having several coughing fits but it sounds like a reverse sneeze to me.. should i take him in because he has been over vaccinated??

Why no, this has been the standard for as long as I have been raising dogs.

which doesn't make it right, and even some vets are finally figuring it out even though the information has been out there for longer than I've been alive. Do you understand what a vaccine is SUPPOSED to do to your dogs immune system?

When he just snapped at my mother in law a grabbed the roof of his mouth with my thumb holding around his nose and said no.. I then told my mother in law that he was scared and the proper way to say hi to him until he knew her..
what is a good correction?

yes, but unless he actually gets sick there's not much your vet can do about it

But no to what part. I wouldn't vaccinate with the mass combinations at all if it was not needed. I don't like the idea of vaccinosis.

watch him. I'm wondering if its a respitory infection of some kind. If it does get worse a vet check should be done.

A true reverse sneeze can't be corrected (that I know of). My little dog has this & I basically have to pick her up, hold her pressing her up against my chest & eventually she calms down & breathes calmly.

To me it could possibly be a reaction to the vaccine, possible a URI. I'd watch him & if it doesn't get better then off to the vet he should go.

And I strongly believe a fear biting issue is something that can be corrected. Parvo is serious & awful to watch. My parents lab/chow mix had it at the beginning of this year & $2700 later they finally took her home. She was hospitalized for 10 days & had a blood transfusion during that time. She came so close to death. I never want to witness that ever again.

Once you have a fearful dog that hasn't been exposed to enough during very important times during their development you can generally condition them to not react immediately with a bite but you can not correct it. I tried for several years with my rottie and while she would work because I would ask it of her sports like obedience where a judge had to get close were not possible. And new things in her environment could throw her for a loop. Parvo is serious and is painful to watch a dog deal with but your parents are one of the lucky ones. My friend lost her prized male rottie due to exposure to it at a vet clinic during a routine check up with 3 rottie pups. They all caught it but the male was the only one they lost so sometimes it doesn't matter how cautious you are.

just got back from dinner with him and he got to meet five new people today.. I did bring Apollo though im going to slowly build his confidence and independence.. but he did great with his new friends... even kept going back to one for more pets.. we used treats as an introduction starter.. Thanks for all these great tips!

I agree that the shots would be the least of my worries, take Chaos ONLY to socialize, a snapping 8 week puppy is NOT ACCEPTABLE. Let Chaos know that such behavior will not be tolerated. Store fronts are a great idea, let him get used to all people. That doesn't necessarily mean touching but to get him used to people.

We are going together to eat breakfast.. The only problem is im not assersertive to people so when they are like OHHHHHHHHHAWH HES SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CAYUTEEEE! and then start grabbiing for him.. poor Chaos is terrified.. Should i just stop them there and show them the correct way?
